All About Reading

A Therapy Visit, Haircuts, Robot Vacuums, and Everything Else

Hey hey! How are we halfway through January already? What have you been up to this month? Sadie and I are trucking along through her schoolwork. She only has one lesson left in All About Reading Level 1 and I’m so proud of her!

All About Reading Level 1

This curriculum has been great for both of us. I love that it’s open and go (like zero prep work for me!), she enjoys the games and stories, and she’s making so much progress with reading. She used to never read outside of school time, and now we’ll be out somewhere or playing and she randomly reads something and I feel so excited and happy for her! (more…)

Our Homeschool Plans for the Year (2024-2025)

We’re at the start of another homeschool year! Sadie is kind of in an in-between year this year because in Pennsylvania, we don’t have to report anything to the state until she is six-years-old by September 1st. Her birthday falls at the end of September, so we have a year of being able to explore and learn and do what works for us before there are certain requirements for days, hours, or subjects to be covered.

Because we don’t have to report to the state this year, does that mean we’re not doing any learning? No way! We have a plan of subjects we’re going to cover and how often, curriculum we plan to use, and some learning goals. At the same time, I am holding the word “plan” loosely, because I know things can and will change as the year goes on. As of now, here’s what’s on the agenda for the school year!
