Notes from Nehemiah and My Kitchen

My Bible has been open on the dinner table, beside a flour-dusted counter, and on my lap as I nurse Dakota. Lately I’ve been stirring batters, whipping buttercream, and developing new recipes.

These small, ordinary moments have come together to make some very sweet days. Here are a few notes from Nehemiah and my kitchen!

Notes from Nehemiah 📖

I have been finding so much joy in studying the book of Nehemiah. I wanted to share a few of my journaling pages to give a visual of what I’m learning lately!

My journaling pages are far from perfect, but they’re my favorite way to slow down and savor scripture. Hopefully these spreads can provide some encouragement for you to dig into God’s Word!

Notes from My Kitchen 🍰

As per usual, I’ve been busy in the kitchen! Sometimes I even have a helper. 😉

Toddler girl with muffin cup standing on kitchen chair

It’s much easier to get baking done when I pull a chair up for the kids to join me. Otherwise, they end up at my feet tugging on my leg and crying. They just want to be involved in what mom is doing!

Lemon poppy seed muffins with lemon curd

Dakota and I made these lemon poppy seed muffins with lemon curd.

Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and strawberry filling

My niece, Olive, turned three years old! Didn’t she just turn one?! I made her birthday cake and cupcakes. She requested a chocolate cake with strawberry buttercream. I also filled it with strawberry preserves and vanilla buttercream.

Strawberry drip cake

I topped it off with some chocolate pieces and a chocolate drip for good measure. 🍫

Strawberry cupcakes with vanilla buttercream

The cupcakes were strawberry with vanilla buttercream.

Berry pie

I also made a berry pie with fresh strawberries and blueberries. Gotta love summer produce!

Burger and pasta salad

On the savory side, I grilled up a burger and made pasta salad for the side dish. We always buy Bubba Burgers. They’re so flavorful!

Other Notes and Thoughts 📝

So much of life is built in the everyday moments. The chapters we pore over, the meals we cook, and the people God blesses our lives with. All of these ordinary moments end up creating a beautiful life that I treasure so very much. 💛
