On the Upswing

The kids are coming off of a week of sickness and I’m glad it’s (mostly) behind us! It’s no fun seeing little ones with high fevers and coughs. Sadie was wiped out.

Mordecai went through a couple coughing fits that left him gasping for air, with tears streaming down his face. Definitely a little scary!

We had lots of temperature checks, dispensing of medicine, a doctor’s visit, and some long nights with both kids in bed with us, but we all survived!

While we were sad to miss our planned trip to the Creation Museum, there were some bright spots throughout the week.

Endless snuggles, watching movies, extra playtime, and time spent together at home. Yes, there are memories from this tough week that I will cherish!

Like Sadie napping each day, which gave me some one-on-one time with Mordecai. Even while coughing up a storm, he was very good natured and took an extra interest in his rattles this week.

Pancetta and linguine

Another day I was so stir crazy that I went to the store (felt so good to get out!) and put together a special dinner. Linguine with shrimp scampi, roasted root vegetables, and salad with caramelized fennel and pancetta.

There was plenty of playtime when Sadie was up for it. We made homemade slime and had a slime shop. We also played hair salon, did school, and baked.

While it wasn’t the week we planned on having, it was still a good one and we’re looking forward to a fresh new week. We’re thankful the kids are on the upswing and can’t wait for some warm spring weather!

What do you like to do when you’re sick?

  1. So glad the kids are feeling better!!
I tend to nap a lot when I’m sick, and at this point in my life I snuggle with our dogs 😂
    Love you!!
