Hi! I feel like I haven’t blogged much lately! I guess I’ve been busy with finishing up school and living life, haha.
I just want to share what I’ve been up to lately. I decided to be organized and divide this post into three categories: life, animals, and baking. Those three topics are pretty much the bulk of my blog content, huh?! Interesting combo for sure. Okay… here’s what I’ve been up to lately.
Life
-Jimmy and I saw Newsies at the Benedum Center in downtown Pittsburgh on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
-We painted ceramics and went rollerblading with our church’s young adult group. Both events were very fun!
-I decorated our mantel for Christmas/winter, buuut we didn’t get a Christmas tree (yet?!).
-Our neighborhood had a holiday kickoff night with a Christmas tree lighting. So cute.
-I finished reading I Work At A Public Library by Gina Sheridan and it was hilarious.
-Jimmy and I ventured to downtown Pittsburgh to see the Christmas tree at PPG Place and walk around the holiday market in Market Square.
Animals
-I got to pet sit Gunner again! He’s such a sweet dog.
-Lola loves to snuggle with me… even if our couch is too small.
-Reggie is getting huge.
-Jimmy wants to steal Felix from my parents.
-Lola made a visit to Lowes and loved it! Yes, dogs are allowed in most Lowes 🙂
Baking
-I baked banana chocolate chip cake (pictured above) for the toddler class that Jimmy and I are teaching at our church this month and it did not go over well with the kids. One little girl actually cried when she saw it and was like “I don’t want that!!” haha.
-Other things I’ve baked lately: Lofthouse style cookies, iced pumpkin cookies, apple pie, an apple turnover, bagels, sandwich bread, and cinnamon pinwheel cookies.
Have you baked anything lately?
Have you done anything fun/cool recently?
I haven’t really baked anything recently because I’m doing a grocery challenge. I’m not buying groceries for three months so I can take full advantage of the food that gets thrown away at my job. I did make pancakes the other morning though and they were mighty tasty!
That’s such a cool idea, Ellie! You’ll have to blog more about it as you go through the challenge 🙂
Looks like you’re staying busy having fun, and making lots of yummy things!
Definitely!! Lots of busyness… but the good kind 🙂
Aww, if only those kids knew it had chocolate in it! Unless they aren’t fans of chocolate? Perhaps a batch of oatmeal cookies may have fared better 😉
Seriously! I couldn’t believe they weren’t into it, though I know kids are more about how a food looks vs. how it tastes. Things definitely change as you get older, haha! I like some of the grossest looking (to a kid) stuff, and it’s SO good!
Whaat?! I can take Oreo with me to Lowes! I need to ask if they’ll let me bring him in. It’s so good for him to be in new situations like that. That’s why I like taking him to the pet store with me when I pick up his food. 🙂
YES! Definitely call up your Lowes and check into it! Oreo would probably love it 🙂 It’s great socialization!
aww girl, you’ve been too busy to blog with good reason!! musical and painting dates? yes please. and that banana chocolate chip cake looks so, so good!
Amen!! I love when I am too busy to blog! I miss it, but I know life is good and full when that happens 🙂
What fun stuff you’ve been doing recently! I’ll eat the kids portion of that banana chocolate chip cake…. 🙂
Yes! You can definitely have the kiddo’s portion 😉
I love the picture of you and Jimmy at the theater (Your HAIR looks amazing too :-)). You guys sound like you’ve been making the most of the holidays!! I’m going to have to take Zu to Lowes soon 🙂 I’m glad your experience was fun! I hope you do get a tree too. Enjoy your holidays if I don’t talk to you before!!
Aww, thanks Patty! I straightened it for the first time in MONTHS! I bet Zuzu would just love going to Lowes 🙂
Your baking pictures always make me feel so hungry!!! 🙂 YUM!
And how fun that you saw Newsies!! It’s usually a tradition of me and Nate’s to go to a play or musical at this time of year. We’ll have to make up for it next year and go to see two! 😉
Aww, sorry!! Newsies was amazing! If you ever get the chance to watch/see it, I recommend it! I love things that are based off of true stories!
I baked the moment I finished class this quarter. HAHA. it was amazing.
YESSS. Isn’t that the best feeling ever?!
It sounds like you are enjoying life right now a lot. If you blog about it…great…if you don’t…you are still enjoying your life Allie and I could not be happier for you!
I definitely am!! Thanks, Hollie! I hope all is well with you, too 🙂
Sugar cookies! And Salted Caramel Mini Cheesecake cookies. Also chocolate chips and truffles are on the list for this weekend!
YUM. You’re making me hungry!
