Book and Purity Ring Q&A

Hey hey!

I wanted to share a good book that I recently read.

Heaven Is Here: An Incredible Story of Hope, Triumph, and Everyday Joy – Stephanie Nielson

Heaven is Here is Stephanie Nielson’s memoir. She became a blogger in 2005, as she raised her three young children with her husband, Christian. Her life radically changed in 2008 when she and her husband were in a plane crash that left them both severely burned and injured.

In her book, Stephanie tells the story of her emotional and physical recovery from her life-changing accident. Her faith and family served as anchors that helped keep her strong through everything she experienced in the aftermath of the crash.

I could not put this book down, and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a book that will make you appreciate all that you have in life.

Now, onto the topic of purity rings. Random!

I blogged about why I wear a purity ring in 2011, and today it’s still one of my most visited posts.

Because that post is visited so often, I thought I would do a Q&A on my experience with wearing a purity ring. People “in real life” ask me questions about it all the time, and I’m always happy to answer them.

So… feel free to ask any (and I mean any) questions about purity rings or the topic of purity in the comments section. Alternatively, you can send me an email with your questions at

Don’t be shy! If I get enough questions and interest in the topic, I will provide my answers in my next post.

Hope you’re having a great day!

  1. I don’t really know much about the topic at all so whatever you post will be really interesting to me!

  2. I’m conflicted about purity rings. Text me and we’ll talk 😉 I am reading Silver Linings Playbook and absolutely love it! I can’t wait to see the movie.

  3. Actually, aside from the obvious meaning… I don’t really know much about purity rings so I wouldn’t really know what to ask! This book sounds really good but I think I’d be so sad while reading it. haha

  4. Just read your first post – super interesting! Relationships can take all sorts of different forms and I’m so happy that you have found someone who is on the same wavelength. Regardless of what you choose to do, having great communication makes everything so much easier!

  5. That book sounds amazing. I always love reading about other people and their success stories. I admire your decision to wear your purity ring.

  6. This isn’t really a question for me, but I recently read about Elizabeth Smart talking about the impact abbstince teachings have on victims of rape.

It made me very sad. It was more about sex educators then the Christian teaching of abstinence, and yet I could see each and every one of her points as maybe being applicable to someone raised in Church.
No question just thought you may find it provocative.

  7. I found your first post on the topic so interesting–I’m definitely looking forward to another/some Q&A. Can’t say I have any specific questions, but I love that your posts show a different side to things/approach to life that I don’t often come across in other areas!

  8. It must take a lot of courage to stand up for your beliefs in this kind of world, you really rock Allie.

    Have a great weekend!

  9. I remember when you wrote that post and I just went back to see if I had commented on it… sure enough I left a book-length comment on that post, haha! Anyway, I’m so glad that this is still something you are so committed to. I wore my purity ring until the day I got married. I actually intended to continue wearing a purity ring (on my other hand that said “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine in Hebrew) after I got married, but I bought the ring in the wrong size and never replaced it, haha! Anyway, maybe if you don’t get enough questions here, perhaps you could use some of the questions people have asked you in person?
