Sadie’s Sixth Birthday Party

We had such a nice evening celebrating Sadie girl’s sixth birthday! We had her party at our house and invited family and it was just perfect. Everyone was able to come, the weather was great, and Sadie felt so loved.

Sadie requested a cat theme for her party, so we ordered some decorations, balloons, and she and I made her birthdaycake a cat cake! We did that the day before the party and had fun working on that project together.

She wanted a strawberry cake so it would be pink (her favorite color!). We filled it with strawberry preserves and frosted it with vanilla buttercream. Then we got to work decorating! We used black icing for the eyes, nose, and whiskers. We made the ears out of fondant, and piped some pink strawberry buttercream flowers and a little detail along the bottom of the cake.

Aside from the cake and actual birthday party, Sadie was super excited to decorate! It’s amazing how a few balloons, table cloths, swirly cat things, and a birthday banner will make her happy. It’s adorable.

Before we knew it, everyone arrived! The kids bounced in my parents’ bounce house and Jimmy and I got to work prepping hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken.

Mordecai felt like such a big kid eating a hamburger all by himself!

My mom and dad got a picture with all eight (soon to be nine!) grandkids. Then it was time for Sader Tot to open up gifts and boy was she spoiled! Everyone knows her so well–she was given lots of art supplies, Hello Kitty-themed clothes, a new bike, Legos, axolotl toys, a vet kit, candy, and more!

After gifts, we sang happy birthday and she blew out her six candles!

As our family gets bigger and bigger, I’m going to need to start making bigger birthday cakes because we demolished this one! Sadie didn’t have any because she’s not a cake girl (I know, crazy!), but she was happy everyone enjoyed it 😂

The last thing on the agenda for the evening was the piñata. It’s not a party at our house without a piñata 😜

The kids had so much fun hitting that piñata and then grabbing all the candy. They all went into the hot tub afterwards and before we knew it, it was everyone’s bedtime.

We laid Mordecai down for bed and Sadie and I played with a few of her gifts and made plans to play with the rest after church the next day and into the next week. Can’t wait to share all about our adventures in candle making and flower crowns!

She was loving her new vet kit!

I filmed a quick vlog of the day and she has loved watching it and reliving the special day all over again. Jimmy and I are so blessed to call Sadie our daughter!

  1. it was such a joyful, fun-filled party! I’m glad Sadie had fun with all her cousins and brother, and that the weather was perfect for a nice outdoor cookout and celebration. She is a very sweet, kind and loving 6 year old, and SO loved by everyone ♥️

  2. I adored that video! I really appreciated Malcoms cameo, as I could hear him meowing before I got to see him. This is such a special day, filled with so much love! Happy happy birthday to your sweet Sadie!

    1. Thank you 🥰 Love that you got to see Malcolm in action!! That’s his spot where we feed him and he just observes the world! Thank you for the birthday wishes for Sadie girl!!

  3. Looks like it was a great day! My Grace is a Hello Kitty girl too. When I was over there last year I mentioned to her and Rachel that when they get up to an age of going out with their friends at night, I’ll buy them their first tasers. Grace was clear that she wants a Hello Kitty taser. I was a little alarmed to discover that there are Hello Kitty tasers!

    1. Hahaha, I would totally be getting Sadie a Hello Kitty taser too when she’s of age 😂

Can’t believe they even exist. Sounds like your Grace and my Sadie are spirit animals!
