Cutting Each Other’s Hair + Playtime

As soon as Sadie got home from spending the night at my parents’ it was full speed ahead with playtime. We were stuck indoors due to rain, but we lit a candle and made the best of it!

I have started keeping Sadie’s toys up high and getting them down for her when she asks and whoa has it been life changing.

Things are a little less messy around here and her toys feel new to her when it has been a while since she last played with them. I think her favorite “toy” is just time with mom and dad. She rode around on Jimmy’s back and thought it was the coolest.

Us girls had some reading time together, which I cherish so much. We were reading Cookie’s Week (<– affiliate link!) in the photo below, which is a big favorite with us. What’s better than a children’s book about a cute cat?!

After we put little Sader Tot to bed, Jimmy and I cut each other’s hair. This definitely wasn’t my first time cutting Jimmy’s hair, but it was his first time cutting mine!

He was way more nervous than me about making a mistake while giving me a trim but I assured him that my crazy hair hides any cutting mishaps pretty well 🙂

Yeah, we totally have a barber cape for Jimmy and a smock for me. I take my hair cutting duties seriously 😉

Have you ever cut your own hair or someone else’s?

What was your favorite book as a child?

  1. Love this post! So smart to put the toys up, I may have to try that lol.
I have never cut anyone’s hair, but you have cut mine and I have cut my own! Lol I love your little smocks!
My favorite books growing up… probably any of the Biscuit books thanks you to ❤️

  2. Never cut anyone’s hair and can’t remember any children’s books!

    Thank you for sharing!

    Love 💕 Dad
    🙂

  3. I have trimmed my own split ends on several occasions, and cut a friends hair in high school once. I honestly can’t remember my favorite book as a child- I know I use to read a lot of the Little Golden Books at my grandparents house, but I just can’t pick a favorite.
    Love you,
    Madre

    1. I have too many memories of reading with you as a child!! Thank you for spending the time with me and developing a love of reading with me! Love you! ❤

  4. I’ve trimmed my own bangs and I’ve cut my mom’s hair with not great results, so I hung up the scissors then and there. 🙂 Kevin has cut Owen’s hair for nearly a year now and he’s trimmed Ava’s twice and mine once, so he’s definitely the barber in our family.

I loved a book called Thumpity Thump as a kid and it’s one of my kids’ favorites too. I’ve started reading chapter books to Ava and we both love it so much. It’s awesome to see your kids develop a love for reading and books.

Great idea to keep the toys up!

    1. I think it’s the coolest that Kevin is the barber in your family! Maybe he will pass the skill on to Owen or Ava as they grow up?! How sweet that Ava and Owen both like Thumpity Thump, I bet that is so special. I can’t wait to read chapter books with Sadie when she’s old enough! I have such great memories of reading with my mom when I was a child 🙂

Keeping the toys up… life changing 😉

  5. But how did your haircut turn out?? I’m assuming well since you didn’t mention otherwise. 😉 We have both cut each other’s hair over here too, but of the two of us Christopher is definitely the better hair stylist! He actually cut his own hair all during quarantine time and it looked pretty fantastic! Better than when I did it, haha!
