Current confession Jimmy and I are having a tough time keeping Malcolm off of our kitchen counters and table. We’ve even resorted to a spray bottle, but sometimes he just sits there and looks at us like “You think I’m afraid of that?” while we spray him.

Coffee Mug

Current mood Content 🙂

Current beauty product Burt’s Bees Vanilla Bean Lip Balm.

Current excitement Jimmy and I are sponsoring a young boy at Niños de Mexico! We send money each month that goes towards his care and get to correspond with him. We just sent him our first letters and pictures to introduce ourselves. You can read more about Niños here and here.

Ninos De Mexico

Current need Nada. I am so very blessed.

Current indulgence Dreaming up house projects.

Current procrastination Doing laundry. Our washing machine is in our basement and I’m too lazy to walk down the steps and start the laundry. Maybe after I post this I’ll stop procrastinating?

Current blessing Prayer. It just feels so good to be able to talk to God and ask for wisdom. It’s something I never want to take for granted!

Tell me something current in your life!

  1. We sponsor a couple of kids through Compassion and I love getting their letters and pictures! So so sweet! Love that you guys are doing that through Ninos!

Also, your cake decorating skills are awesome! Love those rosettes!

  2. I gotta ask what do you do with the cakes after you practice!? Lol send one my way haha And what do you guys grow in your garden? My mom has a vegetable garden and I so look forward to the vegetables come the spring summer, they’re so good!

    xo, JJ

    1. Haha, I would love to ship one out your way!! Jimmy and I eat some, he brings some to work, I give some to my parents, and I bring some to the people I work for. We try and spread the love after we taste test 😉

We grow all kinds of vegetables in our garden! Usually tomatoes, lettuce, eggplant, zucchini, cucumbers, peppers, and kale!

How awesome that your mom grows a garden!! It’s such a labor of love!

  3. I never think to eat mint cookies until I start and then cannot stop =P They are so refreshing, it’s a weird feeling hahaha
I’m currently reading Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. I’m into it, it’s good but not life changing.

    1. Haha, yes! Exactly! Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies? I can finish a sleeve of those in one sitting, LOL. And you’re right about them being oddly refreshing.

I keep wanting to read a book by Brene Brown. Have you read any of her other books?

  4. Kevin is requesting the mint cookie recipe. And Rue loves and respects Malcolm’s sass. She’s a fan of jumping on the counters too and is mostly undeterred by the spray bottle. The cakes you decorate look amazing.

    1. Yay! I will be posting it this week, I think! I’m glad Malcolm isn’t the only sassy one with jumping on the counters and not caring too much about the spray bottle! I think Rue + Malcolm = match made in heaven!

Thanks for the compliment on my cake 🙂

  5. The kid sponsorship is so awesome for you both to do! And I want the cookie recipe PLUS that cake, delivered to my doorstep 😉

    1. Thank you, P!! We are so excited about it!

I will absolutely post the cookie recipe! And if I could figure out a way to ship cake without it getting smushed, I totally would!!

  6. I would LOVE that mint dark chocolate chip cookie recipe PLEASSSEE! Also, I LOVE that you guys are sponsoring a child!!! I have talked to my husband a couple times about this. We should look into actually doing this through this organization! Thank you for sharing! And the power of prayer is something that has been transforming me as well in this season of life. Thank you for sharing, Allie!

    1. Yay! I will absolutely be posting that recipe! I think I’ll have it up this week 🙂

You and your hubby totally should sponsor a child! We really like Niños de Mexico, and we also work with Shiloh Christian Children’s Ranch, which is another mission I’m sure you’d love!
