The Best

Blog friends are simply the best. Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post. The encouraging words mean the world to me and I will definitely be revisiting them when I have writer’s block or feel discouraged. It’s truly wonderful to be able to “put myself out there” and receive nothing but love and support in return.

Speaking of writing, I received a few questions about my book and the way I’m writing. I was thinking about doing a separate post to answer the questions and explain my process. What do you guys think? If you have any questions, let me know and I’ll do my best to answer them πŸ™‚

Other things that are the best…

Lola

Lola wearing Jimmy’s t-shirt. I don’t know what prompted me to put it on her, but she looked incredibly adorable. I posted a video of her modeling it on my Snapchat, which reminds me to tell everyone that I’m on Snapchat. My username is allieksmith. Let’s be friends!

Visiting Jimmy at work. His family’s welding shop has been extremely busy lately, which has resulted in Jimmy working some late nights. Lola and I brought him and my father-in-law dinner last week (my father-in-law even shared some with Lola!) and hung out for a while. It’s always amazing to see Jimmy in action.

Spring has officially started. Though it’s currently snowing in Pittsburgh, I couldn’t be happier it’s actually spring. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the extra daylight lately. I also adore seeing daffodils poking through the ground when Lola and I go on our daily walk.

Well, I better get going. I have cookies to bake for a church fellowship tonight (I’m making these) and want get our house cleaned up for the coming week.

I have a dental appointment on Tuesday to have an old filling fixed. Not fun. We also don’t have dental insurance. Not fun. I’m glad Jimmy and I are blessed enough to afford dental care, though, because it’s important! I’d appreciate prayers that the appointment would go well πŸ™‚

Do you love or hate going to the dentist?

I don’t mind getting my teeth cleaned, but any procedures beyond that make me want to cry.

WhatΒ are the best thingsΒ in your life right now?

My faith, spending time with my husband, practicing being present in my everyday life, snuggling Lola, writing, my church family, amazing blog friends, coffee, and the fact that spring is here.

  1. Good luck with your book! I’d love to read about your writing process since I’m also a writer for work. I like reading about how others write because it’s so different for each person. Even the writers on my team, we all have different ways of going about our job.

I hope the snow melts for you guys soon and you can enjoy spring even more!

    1. Thanks, Amy! Isn’t it just fascinating to hear how others write or just how other people’s creative process works in general? You’re right that everyone is different with that! Even how people type up blog posts is different! It’s fun to get ideas from how other writers create.

The snow thankfully melted! Woo hoo! We are in the 60s today! Can’t wait to get Lola out in the sunshine πŸ™‚

  2. I stopped going to the dentist after I moved out of my parent’s house. I just try to eat well and brush my teeth πŸ˜› I had to get my wisdom teeth out and 8 cavities filled at the same time. Luckily they put me out for it or I would have been crazy!
Things making me happy are homemade juice, a day off next Friday(!!!), SPRING! and podcasts

  3. As you know, I hate going to the dentist due to the 15 zillion things I’ve had done– fillings, abscessed teeth, crowns, root canals, braces, wisdom tooth removal (well 3 outta 4 cuz I passed out) & bridges… I don’t think there’s anything left :/ except porcelain veneers (let’s pray now I don’t them😳). The best things in my life right now are my faith in God, my family and my prayer life.

  4. So as you know I am not a big fan of going to the dentist~ could be the fillings, abscessed teeth, root canals, crowns, bridges, wisdom teeth removal and braces that I’ve endured thus far in my life 😩. But I go, every 6 months (or 7, or so) for s cleaning and check up. So glad I’ve pounded that into your beautiful little head how important that is!! ❀️ The best things in my life right now are my growing faith in Jesus our Lord and savior, and how close our family is to each other… I miss you living right near us, but we still talk, text, email and snap everyday :)) love you, and I’m so proud of your book so far!!! Can’t wait till you can sign my copy😍

  5. I HATE going to the dentist, so I’ll definitely pray that the procedure is over quickly!
And things I’m loving lately? Definitely time with my family!! πŸ™‚ And prepping to host Easter dinner.

  6. HAHA! I put Popcorn in Will’s clothes ALL the time!!! It’s so cute to see our little pups look like little people! Now if only he could speak English… πŸ™‚

  7. Yes! Definitely share more about the writing process! I’m so excited for you!

And I missed the video of Lola in Jimmy’s teeshirt on Snapchat. I bet that was hilarious! This picture is adorbs!

I hope your appointment is going well (or went well)! I’ll say an extra prayer for you today, friend!

I’m so so glad that you feel so loved and supported by your friends in this place right now! What a blessing this community is! πŸ™‚

And I think it’s so cool that Jimmy works for his family business. Christopher loves the idea of owning our own business someday that we can pass down to our kids.
