Hannah and cookies

Hannah recently entered a local teen fashion contest. The contest was for teen girls to show how to dress up a basic outfit in an inexpensive way while also providing shopping tips.

She asked me to take her pictures, and of course I said yes. I love being behind the lens of my camera. I’m not sure when Hannah will find out who won, but I do want to share the photos she submitted!

Her “plain” outfit.

Her fully accessorized outfit!

Very schnazzy.

Love her. So much.

This summer has been the summer of zucchini for my garden. The zucchini grew and grew like crazy. I think I still have some to pick.

I have made countless loaves of zucchini bread. I’ve tried every variation, too–chocolate chip, nut and raisin, banana and Nutella. You get the point.

I was staring at a zucchini laying on my dining room table a few days ago. I was in the mood to bake (as usual), but didn’t want to make another loaf of zucchini bread. So I made cookies.

You would think I’d be tired of cookies by now. Nope. Definitely not.

Here is a lovely recipe for milk chocolate chip zucchini cookies.

These cookies are different from “regular” chocolate chip cookies for two reasons. They have milk chocolate chips and they’re super soft. I think the softness comes from the moisture in the grated zucchini.

If you enjoy soft, chewy cookies, definitely try out the recipe and let me know what you think!

  1. Hannah is gorgeous! And she has good taste in clothes, too 🙂 Your zucchini plants sure did well! Most of mine got eaten by rabbits or something. Bummer…maybe I’ll have to pick up some zucchini from the grocery store because I’d love to try making those cookies!

    1. I agree that she is gorgeous! I can’t believe she’s 15 already. It totally blows my mind. I love her style, too. It’s pretty awesome living with her because I borrow her clothes a lot!

  2. Okay, Hannah looks beauitful! The blue earrings really bring out her eyes, but what I love most (and think the concept for the fashion show is) is that she took a pretty basic outfit but really dressed it up! Not to mention most teenage girls have a scarf and some sort of jacket in their closet 🙂

  3. It is so brave of Hannah to enter a fashion contest! I hate getting my picture taken so kudos to her! I love the picture with her jacket open, total model shot 😉 I never met a cookie I didn’t like so these look fantastic! I am always too lazy to grate anything so rarely do I make things with zucchini or grated carrots.

    1. I feel the same way. I don’t think I would ever enter one at this age because it’s just like putting yourself out there to be judged, you know?! Crazy!

And grating totally sucks haha. I get lazy, too! But I try to think of the end product. And, when I have Jimmy over, I totally make him grate if we bake together haha!

  4. Hannah looks so good!!! I need her to judge my outfits before going to school…high schoolers are the first to tell you when your outfit is not “up to code” with their fashion expectations.

  5. I love the pictures of Hannah, that’s definitely a cute jazzed-up outfit for teen girls to wear to school.

I’m so surprised you’re not sick of baking cookies, but I guess that just shows how much you love it :). I would never think to use zuchini in cookies but that’s a clever idea and a great way to use vegetables, or for anyone with kids to sneak in some veggies, hehe .

    1. I love her outfit, too! It makes me want to try jazzing up some of my “plain” clothes!

And nope, definitely not sick of baking cookies 🙂 I could keep going and going!

  6. Go Hannah!! Her outfit is so cute! Oh my gosh- I have so much zucchini too! I’m making bread today. The other day I made zucchini brownies- YUM!
