My life in 30 Days

My life in 30 days, day 26

My life in 30 days, day 26 = A picture of something that means a lot to you

Let’s see if you can guess from these pictures 😉

Hmm, have you guessed it yet?!

Something that means a lot to me is cooking and baking.

I just really love to cook a meal for others and myself, I enjoy sitting down and eating that meal and knowing that I made it with love and care for everyone eating it. I love to talk about the flavors, ingredients, tastes, and textures of the food I cook. The act of cooking itself makes me happy; it is therapeutic to chop vegetables and brown meat. Nothing is as good as stirring a pot of warm soup.

Baking makes me immensely happy as well. I enjoy the excitement of find a new recipe, softening a stick of butter, cracking eggs, stirring, mixing, pouring. Then I can’t stop looking in the oven to see what the cookies, pie, muffins, or cake looks like.

I could go on and on. I might not be the best cook or baker but I can tell you that I try my best and make everything with love 🙂

What means a lot to you?

College at PSU anddddd

Swim practice, weather permitting 😉 Yes that is me getting out of the pool in a SUSHI bathing suit, what can I say, I’m a foodie!!

Yesterday I had the chance to cook a little bit during my busy day of school, work, friends, etc.

Homemade apple sauce canned just as my great grandpa Ivan once did.

My great grandpa did a lot of farming and had an awesome garden. He lived in upstate NY and even tapped maple syrup. (LEGIT!!) He made homemade apple sauce and canned it in mason jars. I miss him a lot. He died in August 2008 from lung cancer. I wish I would have paid more attention to how he tapped syrup. I wish I would have asked him for his applesauce recipe. I wish I would have asked him for gardening tips. I wish a lot of things but I can’t spend my time wishing for things that won’t happen. I am so lucky to have even known my great grandfather for so long!

I also cooked a little pie/casserole!

Black beans + corn + tomatoes + onion + green pepper

With a topping:

A topping of cornbread!!

Well, ya see… when I was making the dough … I kind of are a few bites, hence the ‘missing pieces’. Hehe 😉

It was very good though! The onion, tomato, corn, black beans, and green pepper were all cooked together and the juices from the tomatoes reduced and made the dish very moist. The corn bread on top was crunchy and balanced out the veggies and moistness. I would def. make this dish again 🙂

What is your day like today?
