Life Lately

Life lately

Hi there! Time for another life lately post. I love writing these and looking back on what I was doing at different times in my life. Here’s what’s going on in my life lately.

I’ve been pet sitting, as per usual! I spent some time with one of my favorite clients this week and it left me feeling so happy. I truly enjoy how every animal I take care of has a completely different personality.

I’ve been diligently working on the devotional I’m giving at my church this month. It’s on the lessons we can learn from the book of Esther. I have always loved the story of Esther, and working on this project has led me to a deeper understanding of the culture during that time period. It’s one thing to read the Bible, but studying it takes everything to a whole new level. Loving it!

I just recently started listening to podcasts again, and I’m totally obsessed. My top two favorites are The Birth Hour, which is a podcast where women share their birth stories, and Daily Hope With Rick Warren. Daily Hope is a Christian devotional podcast full of encouragement and hope.

Edited to add I don’t fully agree with Rick Warren’s view on salvation because he doesn’t seem to believe baptism is necessary for salvation. I also don’t believe a preacher should be called a pastor. If you want to read about my faith and how it lines up with the Bible, please visit this page!

I’m still chugging along with my book! Jimmy took this picture of me writing on the couch one night with Lola snuggled up beside me.

The windowsill herb garden is growing with gusto! So far I’ve only used the cilantro (it’s in the container on the right) and it was absolutely delicious.

Last but not least, I had to share this sweet picture! My mom just sent it to me as I was typing up this post and I was like “I need to add this to my blog post!” haha. My parents’ dogs are just too cute.

Life lately

So, it’s mid-February. That’s weird! Last time I posted a life lately post, it was early December. Here’s what’s going on in my life lately, with some pictures thrown in for good measure.

Life Lately

-The family I work for is still having their house renovated, so my days are extra busy and random. Love it!
-Just finished reading Like Dandelion Dust by Karen Kingsbury and it was amazing! It was also adapted into a movie, which I ordered from the library. Can’t wait to watch it.
-Still staying strong on my goal for 2016. I had one thing pop up that was super tempting, but I took some time to think about what I want to accomplish this year and said no. I think it was a good choice!
-Jimmy and I have started about 50 different projects around our house. I’m most excited to renovate our office. I’m trying to convince Jimmy that we should paint at least one wall coral 😉
-My mom and I are going on a trip together this summer. We’re still in the early planning stages, but I am incredibly pumped!
-I think I’ve finally chosen a topic for the devotional I’m giving in April at my church. Now I just need to work on the actual content of my message, haha.
-Jimmy and I judged a speech competition on Saturday.

Some Pictures

How cute is this Valentine’s Day tree in my neighborhood?! I saw it while I was walking Lola and had to snap a picture. Jimmy and I didn’t do anything super special for Valentine’s Day since we were busy over the weekend, though we did grab a quick lunch at Bob Evan’s on Saturday. I gifted him some dress clothes for church and he gave me sliding under-cabinet organizers. Married life gifts, haha.

I’m still pet sitting and totally loving it :).

As I mentioned above, Jimmy and I judged a speech competition on Saturday for the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association. We were community judges for the home school sector of the competition. We spent some time in an orientation, then chose the type of speeches we wanted to judge (we both chose the impromptu category, where the contestants were given a topic and then two minutes to prepare a five minute speech–intense!).

The kids ranged from ages 7-17, I believe, and everyone was incredible and just so intelligent. It was really tough to pick winners! Jimmy and I were exhausted from focusing so hard at the event. I have no idea how the kids did it, but it was a really neat experience! We both agreed that it was one of the more random things we’ve done together, haha.

Well, I think that’s all the pictures I have that relate to this post. I haven’t been taking enough pictures lately. That definitely needs to change! Thanks for all the comments on my last post! I’m glad so many people could relate on the impact of social media and how we present ourselves.
