(Not) Doing It All and Catching Up

Etsy + Christmastime has had my shop in overdrive. Today is the first day I got fully caught up and have zero orders nagging at me and that feels nice! Hence why I am able to blog for a little ๐Ÿ˜Š

Many early mornings have been spent packing up orders while reading my Bible! I try to do things like this before the kids are up for the day, but it doesn’t always work out. Lately, I’ve been trying and failing to do it all. Running a busy business, homeschooling, preparing for Christmas, keeping up the house, and more. I’ve realized I can’t do it all ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

I have a mountain of clean laundry sitting on our bed just waiting to be folded and put away that literally scares Jimmy and I.

I’m kind of in this weird spot of wondering… am I doing too much? Or do I need to let go of having the laundry perfectly done each day? Am I letting too many things slide? Or am I literally piling on more than I can handle?

Thankfully things should slow down with Etsy as Christmas approaches. I’m mostly going to be focusing on local orders, which don’t require as much work with packing and shipping! I can tell you that I am ready to have less on my plate. To be more present and a better mom. Because it’s hard to be a mom and a business owner and a teacher and a cook and a maid all in one day ๐Ÿ˜œ

Sorry for all the random rambling. I have been all over the place lately! How about some pictures to share what life has looked like for us?

Sadie was invited to her cousin’s ballet and she was so thrilled to go! She had me do her hair, nails, and makeup and she got a night out with her Gramma K. It’s so good for Sadie girl to get a break from me and Mordecai ๐Ÿคฃ

Sadie did not stop talking about what a fun night she had! She was so amazed by the performance and loved spending time with Jimmy’s step mom! Me, Mordecai, and Jimmy ran errands that evening and felt lost without Sader Tot. It was so weird just having Mordecai with us!

We spent some time outside! We’re officially at the time of year where I kind of have to force myself to get outside because it’s so cold but I always feel better after I get some fresh air. Also, my jackets are all getting way too tight around my bump!! Jimmy… I’m coming to steal all your coats ๐Ÿ˜‡

Sadie rode her hoverboard. She got that for Christmas last year from my sister-in-law and really picked up on how to ride it. Jimmy and I? Not so much! We both fell off!!

Peanut butter blossoms

We’re going to a stocking stuffer party to benefit children in foster care tomorrow night and yours truly was honored to cater the desserts for the gathering! I made peanut butter blossoms and… you guessed it… chocolate covered Oreos!

I was making Oreos early one morning and went to make the strand of Christmas lights at the top of the above photo and the chocolate dripped so that Oreo became a smiley face ๐Ÿ™‚

Sadie in her favorite Christmas dress from the thrift store! I think she looks like Mrs. Claus haha.

Love my boys!

His dimple! And also… if you hold Mordecai, he *will* play with your or his hair. It’s precious!

My dad and Jimmy showed up to church wearing the same hoodie. Had to capture it!

Okay, that’s all the pictures I have! This week should be a busy one. We have the stocking stuffer party I mentioned above, a gingerbread decorating activity at the local library, local orders I need to fulfill, maybe squeeze in a haircut for Mordecai, a family Christmas gathering, and I am determined to catch up around the house. Laundry pile: I’m lookin’ at you!!

Other notes and thoughts:

  • Are you done Christmas shopping? I was hoping to be done ages ago… but I’m just about there! I was thinking of doing a post about what I got the kids because I know I love reading posts like that (I’m nosy!). It was hard for me not to spoil them too much!
  • Sadie and I just started reading Diva and Flea and it’s cute. I am still working through Gospel Mom and also reading Swipe Up for More!
  • We are going to do our own little family Christmas dinner either this week or next week and I’m so excited! I am going to make a ham and I’m not sure what else haha. We bought a table cloth and cute plates and I’m hoping this is a monthly tradition. I love special nights like that with our family.
  • I am also going to make sugar cookies with the kids and decorate them. Can’t wait to see their creations!

Make me feel better… what are you behind on lately?

Are you looking forward to any holiday traditions this month?

  1. Yep, I can relate!
My to do list keeps getting longer instead of shorter! But at least itโ€™s a blessing to actually have things that need done!
Iโ€™m looking forward to Christmas day when we all get together at Billyโ€™s house!

  2. I love the pics in this post! Since I am behind in my comments, I can say the holiday traditions we have were amazing again this year! I love that we can visit you all on a special day, enjoy a fun Christmas Eve at our church service and I get to see my grandkids on stage singing their little hearts out, and Christmas Day at your brothers is always a joyous (and slightly crazy cousin crew) time!

I am definitely behind in my reading :-/ as always…

    Love you,

    Madre
