Mordecai’s Second Birthday Celebrations

We had such a nice time celebrating Decky turning two-years-old! I chose his birthday theme last year (fire trucks!), so Jimmy decided on his theme this year: 2 Fast, 2 Furious… yes after the movie franchise haha!

Yes, Mordecai is crying in this photo lol. His balloon popped just as we took the picture 🥴

Our little guy was spoiled with not one, but two parties this year! We had one at my mom and dad’s house on “their side” of Pittsburgh where my family lives. Then, a week later, we had another party at our house with Jimmy’s family who live on “our side” of Pittsburgh. Yes… we planned parties around everyone avoiding Pittsburgh traffic 😂

For the party at my mom and dad’s house, we ordered Italian food from one of our favorite restaurants, I made a race car cake, and my parents set up their bounce house for all eight grandkids to play on! I wish I snapped more pictures, but I did get a few cute ones.

Race car birthday cake

I made Mordecai’s cake red velvet and then frosted it with buttercream in white, red, and black to make a little race track with these car candle holders. I added this little happy birthday banner and the bottom of the cake was covered in donut “wheels.”

Mordecai was so cute when we sang happy birthday to him! He was a little confused and shy at first and then he was happy and he even blew out both of his candles!

We loved having time with family and the kids especially loved playing with all of their cousins. We got some family pictures with my brother’s drone and it was so fun to see how each of the kids reacted to it. Some were interested, others were scared, and now Sadie wants a drone for Christmas. lol.

We even snuck in a few pictures of just Jimmy and I and me and the birthday boy!

Mordecai was trying to blow up his popped balloon 😆

It was a really wonderful, sweet, and fun night with family!

On Mordecai’s actual birthday, it was a pretty normal day for us since it fell on a Wednesday.

We stopped at a bakery in the morning and did school at Jimmy’s work!

In the evening, we had church, but we made sure to do a little cake for him with just us after dinner. He loved blowing out the candles and asked to do it again and again!

Mordecai’s final b-day celebration was a week after the first and fell on a Friday night. We had Jimmy’s family over for tacos and cupcakes and celebrated Decky one last time!

Sadie and I decorated during Mordecai’s nap time and once he woke up and saw the balloons, streamers, and banner he said “Whoa!” We also laid a checkered tablecloth on our table (the same one we used at my mom’s house) and he must have remembered having his cake that night because as soon as he saw it, he said “I want cake.” 😂

Once again, Mordecai loved blowing out his candles! He blew them out over and over again. Next year I’m getting trick candles that are hard to blow out so I don’t have to keep re-lighting them, lol!

He got some really fun gifts! Lots of vehicles, a train set, dinosaur slippers, and clothes. Most of all, he was able to spend time with family. It was such a fun night!

That is everything from Mordecai’s birthday celebrations! He is so loved and such a joy!

  1. What a special little guy – and he did get some major celebrations for turning 2! Love him SOOO much!!

I was cracking up at the pic around the dining room table – all 3 of the older girls had their mouths wide open – most likely yelling something…. and the drone one of our ever expanding family… well, we tried.

    Love you,

    Madre
