Pittsburgh has finally been getting some sunshine lately. We’ve been spending lots of time at our family’s happy place–a creek near our house.
I think Mordecai is the biggest fan of the creek. Our little guy loves throwing rocks into the water. It’s so sweet to watch him explore our favorite place. It’s hard to get the kids to leave unless we promise to visit a local ice cream shop afterwards 😉
We aren’t going to have a garden this year (Jimmy is looking into building a garage in that spot of our yard), but that doesn’t stop us from playing in the dirt in the garden plot.
We’ve also been doing some water playtime as it has finally been warm enough! We used to have a water table… but Niva chewed it so a plastic bin with soap and toys will have to work for now. The kids don’t mind one bit!
We also had my brother-in-law’s dog, Peach, over for the day so she and Niva could romp around. They were both exhausted by the end of the afternoon.
Niva also took me on a run this week. We did three miles and I don’t know how she was still pulling and ready to keep going, especially in the 70-degree weather!
Speaking of Niva, we have a therapy visit this week! Our local library just emailed me today to ask if we can come back again, too. Can’t wait! We took a family photo on Sunday before church (below) and Niva came up and sat by Jimmy without being prompted. It was too cute.
Sadie went to a training session with me and Niva this weekend and I think we have a future dog trainer on our hands. The session was all about exploration, so the trainer set up a bunch of different areas with puzzles and scent work for Niva to do and I don’t know if Sadie or Niva enjoyed it more?!
Okay, I am going to sign off for the night. I’m looking forward to reading in bed with Sadie. I started writing a chapter book for her about her and her cousins and she has made me read it to her several times today, haha. I have a feeling it will be tonight’s bedtime story as well 😜
The creek looks like a lovely place to have on your doorstep 🙂 Glad you’re getting some nice spring weather. It’s been very mixed in the UK so far, with April showers and wind. Luckily the weather on Sunday was fine and dry as it was marathon day — Lewis ran it in 3 hours, 28 minutes!
The dog training session with Niva sounds like a lot of fun for Sadie!
The creek is the perfect way to unwind at the end of a long day and spend time in nature. We’ve been having some wind here in the U.S., too! I hope it’s warming up for you! Congrats to Lewis on his marathon time–that’s really fast!! And just finishing a marathon in general is a huge accomplishment!
The dog training session was so cool for Sadie. I’m glad I was able to include her in my hobby 🙂
Love 💕 the family pic with Niva before church!
Love ❤️ You
Dad
🙂
She is definitely a big part of our family! Love you!
How cute that you come up with your own stories for Sadie! My mom and grandma used to do that when I was young. I still remember those stories, they’re some of my favorite memories! I’m sure it will be the same for Sadie.
How special that your mom and grandma used to do the same for you and that you still remember the stories and memories! I hope it’s the same for Sadie 🙂
I am definitely enjoying spring weather!! It’s one of my favorite times of year for sure!
The pics of the kids by the creek are priceless!
I don’t think I have ever re-read a book – but there are some I def want to (cuz my memory sucks) – and some I absolutely wouldn’t (too sad)
Love you,
Madre
Same! I used to dislike spring, but I think I just dislike early spring where everything is still cold and gray and slushy haha.
We just love the creek! I love that we *all* enjoy our time there.
I am the same with books! There are some I’ve read that I almost wish I didn’t because they were that sad!! Then there’s some that I’d read again and again!
