Sadie’s First Haircut, Projects, and Our Week

Sadie and I happened upon a stencil kit at the grocery store and we have had so much fun with it! It came with window markers, so all of our windows and storm doors have been graced with spring designs lately!

Speaking of Sader Tot, she got her first haircut this week! She hadn’t wanted get it cut (ever) because she told us she wanted to be Rapunzel. We finally convinced her it would just be a trim and she could continue to grow it as long as she wanted.

She had a great experience and her hair is so soft! Now I need to schedule her first dental appointment. I am way behind on that 🫣

This little guy has some new shoes coming in the mail! We’ve been spending time outside a lot lately, and Jimmy and I realized we were jamming his poor feet into shoes that were too small. Sorry buddy!!

I also feel like I need to apologize to Mordecai because he lost a lot of sleep this past week. We got a new roof and all that banging made nap time difficult and had him up early in the morning. Poor guy. On the bright side, we have a new roof!

Other things from this week have included eating my sister’s bread on the daily. It’s so good!

We had a warm day and Sadie insisted on pushing Mordecai in the stroller.

I baked some vanilla biscotti to add to my Etsy shop. We’ll see how it does. For the past month, 99% of what I’ve sold is chocolate covered Oreos, lol. I actually had to force myself to take a little spring break. I was getting so behind on laundry and I wanted to spend more of my evenings with the kids and Jimmy! It’s hard to balance it all, especially when I love what I do.

Another thing I added to my Etsy shop this week was a Mother’s Day breakfast gift box! I had so much fun sourcing the items (a cute cotton towel and engraved spoon) and choosing the baked goods to add to it. Once again, we’ll see how it does 😜

I also worked on chocolate covered Oreos for a local order. Can you guess what they’re for?

Sadie was given a puzzle from our neighbor and we worked on it together. I think she’s ready to step up to the next puzzle level!

Since Earth Day is coming up, I decided I wanted to make succulent-themed cupcakes. So I baked up chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting (so it would look like dirt!) and added fondant succulents on top. I don’t love that way it turned out, though. Next time, I would nix the fondant and just pipe buttercream succulents instead.

I had a local order for chocolate malted milk cupcakes and my mother-in-law requested a few for our Easter gathering, so I was busy in the kitchen over the weekend!

Jimmy worked on a landscaping project all weekend and Sadie was his helper. They drove in his work truck to get rocks together.

Meanwhile, mom and Mordecai went on a coffee and scone date 😉

Here’s how the landscaping project came out! Jimmy did the rock feature in the picture below. He made the edging out of Corten steel (it’s weather resistant because it forms an outer layer of rust) and then added the rocks in the edging.

Sadie and I did our nails on Saturday. She requested bunnies and I did a cow print.

We spent time at the park. Mordecai would stay outside all day if we let him!

In the evening, we headed to Jimmy’s mom and step-dad’s house for dinner.

We’ve had a great week and weekend so far. A new roof, family time, baking, outdoor projects, and everything in between! Now it’s Sunday and we are headed off to church in a bit to celebrate Resurrection Sunday.

What have you been up to this weekend?

  1. It looks like you’ve all been busy with work and creative projects. The Mother’s Day gift box is a great idea!

My weekend has been relaxing. Time to plan the garden (thinking of planting a pink flowering cherry tree) and enjoy Easter. Oh and I had time to finally sit down and reply to your letter. I’ll get it in the post tomorrow 🙂

    1. It’s always nice to have a mixture of work and creativity! It’s so fulfilling to have times like that!

I hope you add the pink flowering cherry tree. That sounds beautiful!! Hope your Easter was amazing. I can’t wait to read your letter!

I love all the Etsy baking products! I’d love to try the vanilla biscotti too!

It was so exciting to be able to experience Sadie’s first haircut. She really enjoyed the pampering (just like her YaYa!!)

Your nails looked adorable, and I love that Sadie’s enjoys puzzles.

My weekend went pretty well. We FINALLY purchased a new mower, so part of my Easter Sunday was spent trying it out – and it has a self-propel mode – which I don’t know how I lived without for the past few years!

    Love you!
