The Wind Chime, Four Thoughts, and Our Busy Week

Here’s the ramshackle wind chime I mentioned that Sadie and I made!

Homemade wind chime made from sticks, string, buttons, and bells

I hung it up by our hot tub so we could see and hear it while we soak and it was kind of a bad idea because I caught Niva on top of the hot tub trying to chew the sticks 😂

I have four random things to share:

  1. I realized I am super picky about planners. I use a paper planner and it is my lifeline. A planner has to have a certain layout, amount of space, be a specific size, have tabs, etc. for me to use it. I’ve been looking for a planner for next year and I’m struggling because I’m so particular 😅
  2. Mordecai crawls on his stomach like a little inchworm and all of his clothes get stained and dirty on the belly! I have been using a lot of stain remover lately.
  3. We decorated for fall! We actually did it when Sadie had strep because it was a fun distraction for her. Every year I think I have more fall decorations than I actually have but I’m embracing the minimal look!
  4. We went to change into our bathing suits to go in our hot tub last night and there was a toy forklift in my bathing suit. Thanks, Mordecai 😂

We had quite a busy week this week! We did school as usual, had our church’s fall revival, went to a homeschool day at the Pittsburgh Zoo, attended co-op, I made Sadie’s birthday cake and cupcakes, and we’re having her party at my mom and dad’s house in just a couple of hours. Whew! All good stuff, though!

Pittsburgh Zoo Asian Lantern Festival

The homeschool day at the zoo was awesome! We were able to go through the zoo with minimal crowds and I feel like we really got a good look at all the animals! Sadie was very excited about the gorillas.

We went into the elephant exhibit and there was a dog inside it!! I researched it later on and found out the Pittsburgh Zoo uses dogs to herd the elephants. Apparently it’s a little controversial. Very interesting.

Young girl sitting in a fire truck

Sadie got to sit in a fire truck at co-op because it was fire safety week! I actually learned a lot right along with her.

The end of the week was all about Sadie’s birthday cake and cupcakes. I’m glad I practiced her cake because it came together easily this time!

Now we’re off to her birthday party! I hope it’s just as fun and special as Sadie girl. I’ll be back to blog about it all soon 😊

  1. That cake turned out SO good! How adorable, and even more meaningful for her that mom made it.

I love the wind chime, it’s unique and fun and even funnier that the dog loves it too. For different reasons of course. Any stick is a worthy stick.

I’m the same way you are with planners, but with my calendar. My calendar is my planner though, I don’t have enough stuff going on to warrant a planner so I write all things on my calendar. It needs to be clean and minimal looking, with big enough boxes to write things in. I get the same one every year on Amazon. 🤣
