I feel like it has been a long time since I just popped in here and wrote about whatever random things are on my mind and going on in my life. So, here I am!
Life has been busy and good and so blessed. Our days look a lot like the picture below…
Laundry, work, and baby toys strewn about. Lots going on and lots of goodness. We have been having so much fun with Sadie. I feel like she’s at a really great age. She’s able to sit up and play with toys, but isn’t crawling all over the place yet 😉 She’s also teething, which has been so tough on her. We’re going to try out an amber teething necklace. I’ll report back on how it works!
We are working hard on our garden, loving the warm(ish) spring weather, bird watching all the time, working on house projects, and spending time with family.
Jimmy and I went out to eat alone the past two weekends and it was glorious.
The food was great, but the conversation was even better. We are so blessed to have family that is willing to watch Sadie so we can have time together as a couple!
House projects galore have been happening around here. I cleaned out our bathroom vanity and it feels great to have it uncluttered! I plan on organizing my baking supplies next.
I kind of want to rearrange where I keep everything in our kitchen. I think I want to keep all my flours, yeast, sugars, etc. in my line of sight so I’m prompted to bake more 🙂
Hannah graduated from nursing school! I won’t tell you how much I cried during her graduation. I’m just one proud big sister over here. I can’t wait to see her become a mom any day now!
Speaking of motherhood, I had a great first Mother’s Day! Jimmy and Sadie do such a wonderful job of making me feel cherished and loved every day.
I even got spoiled with a new bird feeder and a bag of seed as my Mother’s Day gift and it has been extra special to see all the birds come to the fancy new feeder!
We heard two great Mother’s Day sermons at church on Sunday and one on the story of Hannah really resonated with me. She was infertile and prayed desperately for a son. God answered her prayers and she was obedient by keeping her promise to God and giving her son Samuel to serve Him.
What really struck me was how our preacher noted that Hannah viewed motherhood as the highest calling and a privilege. On tough days, it can easy for me to slip into thoughts like “I’m just a mom” or “I have to do this” when I should be thinking “I’m so blessed to be a mom” and “I get to do this.” Just the way you think about a situation can really shift your perspective, you know? It was a blessed first Mother’s Day and I can’t begin to describe how thankful I am that God made me a mom to Sadie Mae.
Now we’re looking forward to our nieces arriving very soon and getting the garden planted! More on that soon 🙂
Hooray for such a sweet first Mother’s Day, for clearing out and organizing, and for date nights! And I can totally understand the tears at Hannah’s graduation. I felt the same at my sister’s. Love that family shot of you guys!
It really was a sweet first Mother’s Day!! The cleaning and organizing and date nights have felt so wonderful! Ahh, yes… all the tears for Hannah! You know how that goes!
Sounds like life has been busy and blessed! I’m so glad you felt adored on Mother’s Day – and every day. It is soooo nice to declutter and organize. How exciting that your nieces will be born soon!
Exactly! Busy and blessed! I really do feel so cherished and loved by my people!
One niece has been born now!! Just anxiously waiting on number 2!
Awesome Allie thank you sharing!!
Love You!
Dad
🙂
Thanks, Dad! I love you! ❤
That pic of you and Sadie is priceless!!! I’m so glad your first mother’s day was a joyous one, and I agree about the sermons we heard, they were both amazing and uplifting.
You’re such a great mama to Sadie, and her laughter and beautiful smile is a result of that!!
Love you beautiful,
Thanks so much, mama! Ashley took it at church! It really was a joyful Mother’s Day and those sermons were on point!
Thank you so much for your encouragement and for being my mom! I love you so much! ❤
I’m glad you had a great Mother’s Day and that you and Jimmy have had some good alone dates lately too. I bet you certainly needed it and you definitely deserved it. I need to declutter and organize a lot of things right now!
Thank you, Amy! It was an awesome day and the dates have been so wonderful and much needed!!
Yay for decluttering!
Congrats to your sister!! And I have no doubt that your mother’s day was absolutely special this year ❤
Thank you! I’ll pass the congrats on to Hannah 🙂
I loved reading this post from you, Allie! ♡ I hope the amber necklace has been helping Sadie through her teething stage. I love that you & Jimmy still have date nights– that table of food looks delish!
Decluttering the bathroom/vanity is always so fun. The kitchen… not so much lol but what a good idea to keep all the baking ingredients in sight. Hope it works to make you bake more so I can see photos of all your yummy treats, hehe. 😉
It made me smile to read that you were treated so well on your very first Mother’s Day! You deserved it so much. ♡♡
Aww, thank you, Hunida!! We are enjoying the amber teething neclace–yay! The date nights have been so awesome, too!
I agree with you on decluttering the bathroom vs. kitchen! Tough times!!
Thank you so much! You’re too sweet! ❤
