Jimmy and I had my father-in-law and his fiancé over on Thursday night for a little wedding cake tasting! As I mentioned before, we are nailing down the flavors they want in their wedding cake.
I spent most of Thursday baking four different cupcake flavors with fillings and frostings so they could have some small bites to taste and decide for their cake.
Here are the flavor combinations I baked up:
Vanilla cake + raspberry preserves filling + marshmallow buttercream
Chocolate cake + caramel mousse filling + chocolate frosting
Strawberry cake + vanilla mousse filling + marshmallow buttercream
Lemon cake + lemon creme filling + lemon buttercream
Spending the day baking was seriously fun, and the cake taste testing went so well! My father-in-law and his fiancé were able to ask me questions about flavor combos, get an idea of how the cake would be constructed, and of course got plenty of cupcakes in their bellies! They even made a final decision on which flavors they wanted for each tier.
The top tier is going to be strawberry, the middle will be chocolate, and the bottom will be lemon. They’re also going to have some cupcakes around the cake, which will be chocolate.
I’m really excited to start practicing the cake exactly how they want it now that we have the details all set.
If anyone is interested in the recipes, I’ll be happy to share them! Also, I filmed a vlog that day as I was baking. Jimmy even makes an appearance and pipes a perfect rosette on a cupcake. The man never stops impressing me 🙂
The cakes are all awesome so good!!!
The Vlog was awesome, yes Jimmy is a movie star baker boy!
Dad
🙂
Thank you, Dad!! I’m so glad you could come over and taste test them the next day!! Jimmy really is a movie star baker boy 😉
Love you!!
I love me some good carrot cake!
Me too! I think that’s actually my favorite cake flavor!
They all were so delicious!! Thank you for allowing Dad and I also try them! My favorite was the chocolate, and 2nd was the lemon. Love you!!
Thank you, Mom! I’m so glad you guys could try them!! Yay for chocolate and lemon! Love you, too! ❤
I don’t know which cake flavor sounds better. They all look delicious! I wouldn’t hate it if you shared the recipes.
Aww thanks, Maureen!! I will share the recipes!
All of these cupcakes look so cute and delicious! They also sound like flavor combos that a lot of people are used to, so they wouldn’t be intimidated by them lol. I feel like fancy cupcake flavors and ingredients can be fun, but when it’s something like a wedding, might be better to play it safe 😉
Thank you, P! That’s what I was going for–non-intimidating cupcakes haha!!
Girl you are seriously making me want to dive back into baking! These all sound so good! And they look so delicious in your pictures! SO yummy!
Also I nominated you for the Unique Blogger Award! I hope you are having an amazing day love! ❤
