Christmas Cookie Baking Day

My mom and I had our second annual Christmas cookie baking day on Saturday. It was wonderful and included laughter, a melted plastic spoon, Christmas music, and lots of cookies.

What we made

Russian Tea Cakes
Chocolate Covered Oreos
Ritz Toffee
Polar Bear Cookies
Chocolate Crinkles
Peanut Butter Blossoms
Sugar Cookies
Chocolate Snowballs
Peppermint Bark
Chocolate Covered Pretzels

We baked at my house this year because I had to run out to pet sit in the area a few times. While my kitchen is much smaller than my parents’, we made the best of the counter space and piled cookies wherever we could.

We melted chocolate, rolled balls of dough, unwrapped countless Hershey’s Kisses, got sick of hearing the oven’s timer beep, and taste tested all day long.

For some reason, my mom left that night absolutely covered in flour and powdered sugar and I was left unscathed. We’re still trying to figure that out, haha.

We baked for eight hours and were exhausted by the end of the day. That delirious, happy-type of exhaustion, though! It was worth every minute of work to be able to give our neighbors, friends, and loved ones tins of cookies the next day.

It was also worth it to eat copious amounts of cookies 😉

Do you bake around Christmas time?

  1. I had sooooo much funnnn!! Despite the icy conditions that tried to stop me from coming — be the horrible accident on the parkway 😐 ~ nothing held me back!
And as far as the powdered sugar and flour I was covered with — idk. I should have thought twice about wearing all black while baking. I love that pic of us!! I didn’t even realize Malcolm was in it till you sent it to me 😂
    Love you beautiful girl ~~

    1. I had such a fun time, too!! I was so proud of you for driving out in the crazy weather and traffic–and so glad you stayed safe!

I always sneak Malcolm into pictures, haha! He’s my little star boy 🙂

      Love you, mama!

  2. Oh my goodness, you two are cookie making machines!! 8 hours! I’m exhausted just thinking about it. What a fun mother daughter day and such sweet results. I bet the neighbors love getting cookies from you! The polar bear cookies are adorable.

      1. ah me too or a cafe. Not that I’m an excellent baker or anything but I’d love to manage a business….lets do a collab lol Ill make the business, and you can bake for me 🙂

  4. I have to say that I always look forward to your Christmas cookie posts. Your cookie plates look SO amazing… and adorable! (And I’d be the one covered in sugar and flour if we cooked together. Ha, ha. I am SUCH a messy cook. But I promise that I always clean up after myself. LOL). 🙂

  5. I love Mexican Wedding Cakes (or snowballs I think you call them). They are my FAVORITE and at the cookie party I went to, someone made vegan ones! I felt so blessed. I need to check out the Ritz toffee, that looks simple and delicious 🙂 This year, I made PB cups.

    1. Mmm, they’re so good aren’t they?! I think my favorite of the day were the sugar cookies. Simple old sugar cookies! How awesome that you were able to enjoy some vegan Mexican Wedding Cakes. Definitely a blessing 🙂

  6. Your neighbors are way too lucky, haha! But maybe your family is the luckiest since you have first dibs and countless taste testings 😉
