Things you may not know

Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post about our new family members!

Ford Scout

Ford and Scout have pretty much taken over our lives and stolen our hearts. I’ll definitely be blogging more about them and life with two puppies soon. Hopefully they don’t completely take over this blog ;-).

Anyways, back to what I’m posting about today! I’ve been seeing (er, reading?) a lot of bloggers post some facts/quirks/etc. about themselves that are slightly random and don’t seem to make it onto their blogs. Soo, I thought I’d join in.

12 things you may not know about me:

1. I love the smell of citronella candles.
2. I have horrible nightmares at least 3x a week.
3. I always forget which toothbrush is mine.
4. I have a hard time understanding what people say. I can hear, I just can’t decipher.
5. I really want to be a contestant on Survivor.
6. I’m super afraid of sink holes.
7. Sending “snail mail” is my favorite form of communication.
8. When I have to submit a secure form online, I pretty much always fail the CAPTCHA.
9. I was in 10th grade the first time I ate a hamburger.
10. My older brother and I look nothing alike. I went out to eat with him and my sister a few years ago (when Hannah was way shorter than me), and the woman asked if Hannah was our child. Awkward.
11. I have awful posture and I always catch myself hunched over.
12. I want to take ballet classes really badly!

How was everyone’s weekend?! Mine was spent with my Jimmy and the pups. I had a big baking session on Saturday to prep for my friend’s bridal shower. It seriously felt so good to bake for like five hours. I made cookies with peanut butter, milk chocolate chips, and pretzels.

Sunday morning and evening were spent at church. We heard two great sermons–one was about how nothing else matters but keeping Christ first in our lives and telling others about Him. It was super motivating and made me realize how easily I get distracted in life.

We also bathed Ford and Scout and I swept + mopped our floors on Sunday afternoon. Clean pups and clean floors make me happy :-).

What did you do this weekend?

  1. I liked all the pictures of Ford and Scout that I saw on Facebook- it’s so neat how much your life has changed in just a short time, getting married and moving in with Jimmy then getting 2 puppies. But it’s really exciting, too. That’s so crazy that someone thought Hannah was you and your brother’s child! I’ve always thought you guys looked closer in age than you actually are, in fact.

  2. Aww, thank you! They’re hard to take pictures of (unless they’re sleeping haha) because they’re so rambunctious! It really is insane how much my life has changed in a little over a month. I feel like I have sooo many more responsibilities now (especially with puppies), but I’m super happy! I have my stress/cry moments, as I think most people do haha, but I am loving life with Jimmy and just the big change that is marriage and moving!

I couldn’t believe someone thought Hannah was mine and my brother’s child, either. She was probably ten-years-old at the time, so she definitely looked young, but so did I, haha!! When we told the lady she wasn’t our child, she was like “Good, because you’re way too young to have a kid!” Like what if she WAS ours?! Anyways!! Yeah, we definitely don’t look six years apart in age–sometimes people even ask who is older or if we’re twins!

  3. It was literally music to my ears when I read: “sending “snail mail” is my favorite form of communication.” I always get funny looks when I say how much I adore mail!! My cousin and I are extremely close, and since were were children we sent each other letters. Now, as young adults, we still continue that tradition. I believe it’s fostered my love for mail, and I always enjoy sending fun letters or postcards to my closest friends. The cookie recipe looks great as well – I definitely want the recipe haha.

    1. Isn’t snail mail the best?! I don’t know why, but it just makes me so, so happy! There’s nothing better than getting a card or letter in the mail :). I think it’s so cool that you and your cousin stay in touch via snail mail! As for the cookie recipe, it’s here: http://satisfymysweettooth.com/recipe/?recipe_id=6006800

I hope you enjoy the cookies if you make them. They’re seriously addicting.. sweet.. salty.. peanut butter-y! The whole package 🙂

      1. Thanks for the recipe, Allie! I think I’ll be making these cookies soon…and perhaps feature them on my blog also! I just love baking.

  4. Your floors look fantastic!!! And those cookies – yum – those look delicious.
I love your little known facts about yourself. We have a lot in common. Like 1, 7, 11, & 12. Email me your address and I’ll send you snail mail!! It’s the best, right??

    1. Thank you! That’s the best compliment hahah. Now that I “own” my own floors, I’m like “YAY CLEANING!” and my husband is like “Okay then?!” haha. Anyways, I will email you my address!! I’m happy we have so much in common 🙂

  5. Aww, your puppies getting a bath—too cute! They seem pretty obedient looking at the picture 🙂

I am also a big fan of snail mail. I’m always telling family/friends to send me letters cause I love collecting them. Only one of our family friends seems to agree as she’s been my only “pen pal” in recent years, haha 😛

    1. Thanks, P! They didn’t try and jump out of the tub too many times. Mostly because I think they were kind of freaked out hahah. Poor things! They were so tired after, too!

Yay for snail mail!! I love it so much, too!

  6. I am addicted to the smell of cleaning products. I would literally volunteer to mop at my old job just because I loved the smell! My weekend was spent working but it was fun so I wouldn’t have it any other way 🙂 Next weekend I get to go to a wedding!

    1. Amen to that!! I love, love, love mopping floors! I would seriously do it every day if I had the time and money to keep buying Pinesol hahah!

I’m glad you had a nice weekend, Ellie! It’s always awesome to make money and enjoy yourself at the same time! Have fun at the wedding next weekend!

  7. Aww sweet pups! I’m pretty sure I’m going to love every single shot of them that you put up! Also, I have terrible posture too!! I try hard to sit straight, but I’m so bad about it!

  8. That’s terrible about the nightmares! I had one a few nights ago and I’m so jappy I only get them once in awhile. No hamburger until 10th grade?! Wow! I have a friend who’s never had a hamburger OR a taco. Crazy!
