Thanksgiving always feels like such a sweet pause in the rush of life—especially as the holiday season begins. It’s the perfect opportunity to slow down and spend time with family.
This year’s celebration was simple and full of joy. We spent the day at my mom and dad’s house with my sister’s family, and it was one of those days I wish I could tuck away and keep forever. From the sound of the kids’ laughter to the delicious food, it truly was the perfect day. I hope your Thanksgiving was special, too! Here’s a look at how we celebrated this year.
We started our day with a nice, slow morning—breakfast, a Starbucks run, and playing with a science kit!
In the afternoon, we made the trek across Pittsburgh to my mom and dad’s house! We brought along the kids, a pie, and a salad. It was nice to relax together while we waited for my sister’s family to arrive!
Jimmy and I even managed to take a walk together! It was so cold outside, though! It actually ended up snowing a decent amount throughout the evening, which excited the kids to no end. What a special first snow of the season on Thanksgiving!
Once my sister’s family arrived, all the cousins played and played and played!
And the littlest cousins got all the snuggles. 🤗
Before we knew it, it was time for dinner! The “big kids” sat at their very own table and Sadie prayed for their meal.
And we dug in!
My mom worked so hard to make such a delicious meal. I know it’s a lot to coordinate a complex meal for so many people. Everything tasted amazing, too—thanks mom. 😊
After dinner, the kids played some more while the adults cleaned up and relaxed!
Sadie and Caroline pretended that Dakota and Gideon were their babies! It was simultaneously cute and nerve-wracking to see them toting them around the house!
All the playing wore the babies out and they took a nap in the crib together. Shout out to my mom and dad for being the coolest and having a crib in their house for their grandbabies. 🤗
The big kids all played in the snow! We were so unprepared for snow. I don’t think it was forecasted, so we didn’t pack any mittens or hats. The kids didn’t care. I’m convinced anyone under age 18 has a higher tolerance for cold weather. The older I get, the less I can stand being cold. 🤣
Eventually the kiddos settled in to watch tv and cuddle before it was time to leave!
We headed home with full hearts, full bellies, and lots of leftovers! What a special day. It was so nice spending time with family and reflecting on all we’re thankful for.

I’m so happy we all celebrated together, and pray for many more in years to come. I love preparing Thanksgiving Dinner, but the true joy is spending time with my precious family, and the joy and happiness in seeing the grandkids play and be crazy together. My favorite food is def the turkey, and second may possibly be the cranberry. Love you, Madre
Amen to that! Thank you so, so much for having us! I love you!
P.S. My favorite food is *your* stuffing!!
