That’s what our weekend involved: fishing and challah baking! We also hit up a flea market, rode bikes, and went out for ice cream. All random and fun things, as per usual!
We had so much fun fishing recently that we decided to do it again. This time, we drove about 30 minutes to Raccoon Creek State Park.
We finally bought Mordecai a fishing pole and tackle box and he was so determined and proud as he carried his tackle box down to the water.
We packed a blanket, snacks, water, and our gear! Guess who was obsessed with the bait worms? Mordecai! Guess who caught a fish. Sadie!!

You can see her missing tooth!!! The other front tooth is loose, too!
It was one of those perfect summer evenings. Summer is going by waaaay too quickly for my liking.
On Saturday, Jimmy had a work day at our church so I took the kids to a flea market near us called Trader Jack’s. It’s an interesting place. There are antiques, vegetables, toys, clothes, and all sorts of things for sale.
We browsed around and I treated Mordecai to two Hot Wheels cars because he’s working so hard on potty training. Sadie scored a charm for her Croc shoes and a water bottle. Like I said… random things there ha!
Dakota? She was just along for the ride! The hemangioma comment of the day was “Is that marker on her eye?” 😆
On Saturday evening, we did another thing on our summer bucket list: we rode bikes on the local trail! Sadie and Jimmy rode bikes and I pushed Dakota in the stroller while Mordecai rode his bike by me. Then I hopped on Jimmy’s bike and rode next to Sadie while he pushed the stroller. We made it work 😬
After all that biking and walking, we were ready to cool off with ice cream at Millie’s! Guess who sat in a highchair and even had a few spoonfuls of ice cream?! Miss Dakota!
On Sunday, I woke up to brew coffee and found Niva snuggled up with Sadie’s doll on the couch 😂
I was home with the littles on Sunday while Jimmy and Sadie went to church. Poor Mordecai has impetigo again and we definitely don’t want to spread that to anyone. I called the doctor over the weekend to get another antibiotic but they wanted to see him in person first since the rash came back. Hopefully we can get this figured out!
I did something I haven’t done in a while: I made challah! This was cinnamon swirl challah. It came out well. I think next time I would braid it in a six strand braid and divide it into two loaves because it made one giant loaf!
Aaaand hi from Dakota who recently learned how to stick out her tongue! Sadie did the same thing at the same age. Also, Sadie is wearing the same shirt in this post. Memories 🩷
Love this quote from the Ecclesiastes Bible study I’m working through each morning.
Other notes and thoughts:
- Dakota turns six months old this week. HOW. HOW!!!
- Loving these Bible highlighters.
- I’m bringing my mom to a yoga class with me this week. Can’t wait!
- My kids are obsessed with these maple chai snickerdoodles. That feels like a big compliment from Sadie because she’s a picky eater 😜
