I mentioned in a recent post that we were visiting a cat cafe and it totally lived up to our expectations! Just look at Sadie’s face when she peeked into the room full of (17!) cats and kittens up for adoption!
I didn’t realize it, but this was the first time Sadie ever hung out with a *kitten* and boy did she love it! We all loved it 😊
It was such a fun way to spend a Saturday morning! If anyone is local to Pittsburgh and interested in going, we went to Black Cat Market in Garfield.
Another fun thing the kids did recently was attend a science Glow Show at the library.
Well, Mordecai lasted for about half of it until the lights were turned off for an experiment and then he was ready to hightail it out of there! So we played in the library while Sadie learned about bioluminescence and how glow sticks work.
Poor Jimmy never really recovered from his sick day. He ended up going to urgent care a few days later and was diagnosed with bronchitis. Dakota also ended up with a fever and a cough, but I’m happy to share they’re both doing better now. Somehow mommy dodged the bullet (so far)?!
Our church has had vacation Bible school this week and the kids have been loving it! The theme is Australian, and Mordecai really rocked the hat look 😂
The kids and I trekked to Hobby Lobby this week to buy decorations for our church’s float in a Fourth of July parade. We were quite the circus: two hyper kids playing with decor, one baby in a carrier, and a mama on the phone with Jimmy asking what we needed!
Hello from Little Miss Serious. Our family is on a mission to make this girl laugh. I’ll report back if we have any success 😉
Sadie went to the local pool with a friend (!), so Mordecai played with our water table and Dakota joined me while I read my Bible outside. Moments where I can be outside and spend time with God and His Word are so refreshing for my soul.
Dakota is finally starting to use her Bumbo seat lately! Mordecai spent half of his baby life in his 🤣
These two played while Sadie was off at the pool. I can’t wait to see what their relationship is like as Dakota grows and develops (P.S. I’m still loving our summer bed blanket.) (P.S.S. See all the threads ripped out? Malcolm 😂)!
Other notes and thoughts:
- Sadie said she wants to do an axolotl theme for her seventh birthday party and I decided we need to dress Dakota in an axolotl costume for it 😬
- The kids and I made brownies in a mug and they loved “baking” with me!
- We had some rain and lost power a few times this week. We seriously lose power on a weekly basis anymore. I keep begging Jimmy for us to invest in a whole-home generator haha.
- Sadie and I have been scrapbooking lately and it’s so fun! We printed pictures from painting pottery and the cat cafe.

The cat cafe looked super cute and comfy! Sadie’s expression – priceless. I’m so glad you got that pic of her! I have never been to one, but I wouldn’t mind visiting.
have had bronchitis a few times, and for me, the cough was the worse symptom. I’m glad Jimmy is doing better, and Dak seems to be too!
I hope you all had fun at VBS, and the parade is fun too- and the weather cooperates ❤️
love you,
Madre
THE CAT CAFE! That photo of Sadie is priceless! I’m going to a cat cafe this weekend! 🤣 it’s a triple date with me and Duncan and two other couples. I can’t wait.
It was a dream come true for her!! I feel like you would have the same reaction hahah. I hope your triple date was SO FUN!!!
The cat cafe is crazy! And Decy certainly rocked the Australian cowboy hat!
Where does Dakota get the seriousness!
🤣
Love ❤️ You!
Dad

It was so cool! I don’t know how we ended up with such a serious little gal haha. Love you!
