Preparing and Our Fourth

Mordecai is in a wedding next month! How exciting is that?! He gets to be the ring bearer and I can’t wait to see how it goes. He tried on his little suit set the other day and it was adorable.

Sadie decided that she and Dakota needed to pick out their outfits to prepare for the wedding, too! We rummaged in their shared closet and found their fanciest dresses.

My contribution to the wedding will be cupcakes. I can’t wait!

We spent some time at the library last week and Dakota loved rolling around on the floor. She doesn’t get to do that much at home for three reasons:

  1. We have hardwood floors.
  2. I’m scared her siblings will step on her (accidentally!).
  3. I’m scared Niva will step on her (also accidentally, lol).

She loved the carpet and freedom!

On the Fourth of July, Jimmy brought our “big kids” to ride on the float in the parade our church was in! This is a big favorite event of Sadie’s (and now Mordecai, too) each year.

Our church ended up winning third place! Woo hoo! Meanwhile, I kept this little girl home and out of the heat.

Once Jimmy and the kids were home, he took a nap and I mowed our yard. I’ve been trying to help him out as he recovers from bronchitis. Our mower is pretty big and I can now really appreciate all the work he puts into yard maintenance after doing that task!

Dakota and Mordecai napped at the same time for a little bit, so Sadie and I drew pictures outside together. I love being creative with her ❤️

In the evening, we did fireworks! Jimmy and Sadie love fireworks. The Fourth might be their favorite holiday 😂

Mordecai was into the little fireworks (like snappers and sparklers) but asked for me to take him inside when the big fireworks started going off around our neighborhood. Mommy wasn’t too bummed about that because I was tired anyways haha.

Other things from life lately have included Sadie making a cake for Jimmy. She said it was a get well soon cake! She did everything herself and I just assisted. We used this recipe.

Other notes and thoughts:

  • I’ve been making an extra effort to keep up with homemaking. If there’s a task that takes less than a minute, I try to address it the second I notice it: things like changing out the kitchen garbage, picking up stray toys, and wiping counters. It makes a big difference!
  • I’m almost halfway through Food Person and enjoying it! It feels like stepping into the foodie world every time I crack it open.
  • After I hit publish on this post I’m taking Niva and the kids to the vet for her vaccines. This will be a wild adventure 😂

What did you do over the weekend?

  1. I misunderstood the title and thought you meant “our fourth child” 😂 Exciting to win at the parade! We were at the beach for the 4th and it was so much fun!

    1. I should probably change the title of that post LOL!! Though Jimmy is so ready for #4 and I’m like bro!!!

The beach on the Fourth sounds downright dreamy! I hope it was so fun and relaxing!

  2. The kids are going to be so cute in / at the wedding!
