A month with Dakota! I can’t believe how fast the past month went. Dakota has been a dream and our whole family just adores this girl. We can’t believe God chose to bless us with her. What a gift!

Here’s how Dakota is doing at a month old.

Growth 8lbs 1.5 oz (19th %), 20.7 in (35th %), and 36 cm head circumference (36th %).

Wearing Newborn clothes and newborn diapers.

Personality Pretty chill so far. She has blended right in with our family 🤍

Nicknames Dak, Kota, Kota Bear, Baby Kota, and Dakota Kubota.

Sleeping Like a newborn baby… all over the place! Lately, we put her to bed around 8:00 PM and she sleeps a good stretch until sometime between midnight to 2:00 AM. After that, she’s up to eat every two hours. In the day, she sleeps on and off but I feel like she takes two long naps–one in the morning and one in the late afternoon.

Looks Like Sadie as a baby. It’s so crazy to see pictures of them, especially in the same clothes. I showed Mordecai a picture of Sadie as a baby and he said “Baby Kota!” when he saw it. Her hair is a light brown color and her eyes are blue at the moment. I’m curious to see how much she will change in the coming months!

New Skills Lifting her head up during tummy time or while she’s held against someone’s chest.

Likes Being held, eating, sleeping, and warm baths.

Dislikes Being overly tired or overstimulated, feeling like she’s falling (the Moro reflex), and being cold.

Favorite Products Swaddles, foldable bassinet, diapers, baby monitor, car mirror, wipes, pajamas, foldable bath, nursing cover, stroller + carseat, vibrating bouncer, baby book, vitamin D drops, stain spray, nursing pads, changing pad liners.

Other Notes Dakota has a clogged tear duct in one of her eyes. We try to massage it a few times a day and wipe it with a warm washcloth. Her doctor isn’t concerned about it unless it sticks around until she’s 9+ months. If she still has it then, she will see a specialist. Sadie had a clogged tear duct, too, but it resolved! Hopefully it’s the same for Dakota!

Dakota smiled for the first time (on purpose) on 3/24 at one month and one day old. I can’t wait to see more of her smile 😊
