The Daylight Savings sleep confusion continues for these cute kids. They were both up before 7 am on Sunday… so we made the best of it by baking cinnamon rolls!
I also baked a loaf of bread. I experimented by making it gluten free and it came out surprisingly good. Not “regular” bread good, but gluten free good, if that makes sense 😉
Mordecai and Sadie have both been keeping busy playing with toys from Mordecai’s birthday party at my mom and dad’s house. He received a wooden car carrier (pictured below!), CAT Construction play set (<– his absolute *favorite* thing right now!), and Lego Duplo Firetruck set. Basically, vehicles make Mordecai happy!
Since my mom and dad have a lot of grandkids, they’re pretty cool and bought a Chevy Suburban a few years ago to be able to drive them all around. They packed it full of car seats and booster seats and when they’re not in use by kids… well, they can be used for other things 😂
Want to know what it looks like when I get into the zone with cleaning? It looks like pulling the couches off the walls, getting out the hardcore cleaner, and letting the kids run wild (hence Mordecai being shirtless and playing with an umbrella 🤪).
I’ve been (slowly) prepping to have Jimmy’s family over on Friday night to celebrate Mordecai’s birthday, so I’m trying to tackle a few deep cleaning tasks each day. Do the kids undo everything within hours–and sometimes minutes? Yes. But that’s okay, they live there 🙂
I have a confession to make: I let Mordecai eat a dog treat.
I had these taco dog treats sitting out in preparation for a therapy visit with Niva. The kids we visit love to give her treats, so I always bring a bag with me. Mordecai saw the bag and asked for a treat over and over again and no matter how many times I tried to explain to him that they were for Niva, he just wouldn’t drop it and even started crying.
Finally, I opened the bag and gave him one and he took a bite… and spit it out. He was disgusted! When he saw the treat bag a few days later, he asked for it… and gave a treat to Niva.
Speaking of Niva doing therapy, she had a great visit this week at the school we frequently volunteer at! The kids are noticing my bump and one child even ran off and returned to me with a play stethoscope and put it on my belly so she could listen to the baby. It was too cute!
I don’t have any recent pictures of Malcolm (our cat)… but he’s as naughty as ever. His most recent antic? I was blowing bubbles for Mordecai and Malcolm was eager for me to keep going so he stood on his hind legs and dug his claws into my bump and broke the skin. He takes his bubbles very seriously!
Sadie takes her playing very seriously. So seriously that she swipes our tissues boxes! She also swipes tape 24/7… I think I know what to get her for Christmas 😂
Along with party prep, Etsy also has me busy and basically buying stock in Oreos and chocolate and I love it! It doesn’t surprise me that customers are buying fall chocolate covered Oreos, but it does surprise me that Christmas ones are selling. Whoever is buying those are my kind of people. Already in the spirit!
Whew, this post has been a long one! It’s currently Mordecai’s birthday as I type up this post!! I’ll blog all about it in my next post.

Your household and life is so full! Its crazy at the Zottola zoo!
Love You!
Dad
🙂
Ain’t that the truth! It’s only going to get more wild and full soon!!! Love you!
LOLOL I think its somewhat of a right of passage to consume animal food….I have eaten dog food, dog treats, and I tried my cats salmon treats (it’s literally just dried salmon flakes), but I have not eaten wet cat food. I draw the line there. HAHA.
I get so excited seeing your decorate Oreo’s every time you make them. Something about the times of the seasons and adorable things you make on them just make me warm and fuzzy.
The Zottola Zoo in full swing for Decky’s party, etsy orders (galore), Niva’s antics, and more…
I don’t remember that I ever ate dog food or treats – but who knows? I honestly don’t like the smell, so probably not
Love you,
Madre
What!! Dog and cat food always smells so good to me! Though don’t trust me because I’m iron deficient haha.
I recall being maybe 3 years old and trying the dry cat food. I can remember it was really salty and I didn’t go back for more. Being farm kids, though, the boundary between human food and dog food was sometimes a little porous (“is that roast chicken carcass for the dog, or can I have what’s left on it?”)
Have you ever get Sadie any Sylvanian Families animals? They’re very popular with kids here; maybe she’d like them!
Ohh, salty! How interesting!! So funny about being a farm kid and not quite knowing if a chicken carcass was for the dog or if you could pick at it, lol!
Sadie has a set of those animals at my in-laws and she loves them! I should get her a set for our house now that I think of it!
