Spend the Day with Us (+ A Vlog)

Tuesday was just a normal day for us! Here’s how the day went.

I woke up at 5:30 am… later than I would have liked. Oops! I joined Jimmy in the living room with a mug of hot coffee and my Bible. Niva cuddled up next to me.

I’m studying motherhood with a Bible study by Daily Grace Co. and really loving it. I’m also loving the coffee beans we’re currently using! They’re the new Starbucks Milano Sole blend. It’s a light roast with flavor notes of vanilla custard, nutmeg, and pomegranate. I can legit taste the pomegranate in the coffee and it’s so good!

Okay, enough about coffee. After Jimmy left for work, I made myself breakfast and got ready for the day. Sadie was up around 7:00 or so, and she relaxed for a bit before we got her daily hot cocoa and antibiotic. When we were in North Carolina, she developed a bullseye rash and the doctor there thought it was a spider bite. Our doctor here in Pittsburgh was convinced it was a tick bite, so she’s being treated for Lyme disease just to be safe!

Before we knew it, Mordecai was up for the day! He had his morning hot cocoa along with some oatmeal. We got ready and then we had a bunch of errands to run. I had to return three maternity dresses from Amazon (they were too tight 🤣), pick up pajamas for the kids from the mall, and grab a few groceries. I knew this was a lofty goal with two little ones but sometimes you just have to go for it!

Along with the ill-fated dresses, I had ordered Sadie and I matching vests and she was so excited to match with mom!

We returned one dress at the UPS store and were told the other two had to be returned at Whole Foods… womp womp. That added another stop to our errands, but we were going to be by Whole Foods anyways so it worked out!

At the mall, we stopped at Children’s Place to pick up pajamas for the kids. I had ordered matching Christmas pajamas for them a week or so ago (I know… it’s only October. I’m excited, okay!?), and the store offered an extra discount if you shipped the order to the store instead of to your house so that’s what I did!

After grabbing the pajamas, we headed to the anchor store within the mall: Target. I had to grab a few grocery items like milk, fruit, vegetables, etc. and then we headed to Whole Foods to make those returns. We were all pretty much ~done~ by this point and ready for lunch.

The kids love these types of carts!

We drove home, had lunch, I did a quick vacuum, wipe down of the kitchen table, and lint rolled the couches with this glorious tool. I laid Mordecai down for his nap and then Sadie and I got started on her schoolwork.

Homeschool materials

Sadie has been enjoying her reading curriculum lately, so we started with that! She loves reading the stories in the book that goes along with her curriculum. Once we read a story, we moved on to her math, Bible, handwriting, and sign language!

We also used Sadie’s loom kit on and off while doing school for little brain breaks. We learned together how to make a potholder! Does anyone remember when my sister used to make these by the dozen?! I now realize she was 12 when she made these, so I don’t feel so bad about Sadie’s skill level not quite matching the task. Me on the other hand? I have no excuse as to why it was so hard to help her make a potholder as a 32-year-old 😂

After we finished school and our potholder, Mordecai woke up! We then headed to the library for a program called Math Ninjas. I saw it on the library’s website a few weeks ago and signed Sadie up without really knowing what it was. She was game to go and ended up loving it!

We arrived a little early, so the kids had time to play. This particular library is close to Jimmy’s work, so he met us there after he wrapped up his work day.

Once the program started, Jimmy stayed with Sadie and I brought Mordecai home (so he wouldn’t disrupt the kids learning math!). We got dinner ready and Sadie and Jimmy were home before we knew it. Sadie said the class used glow sticks to make shapes and she wants to go to more Math Ninja nights, so that was a win!

Once everyone had dinner and a shower, I worked on an order for my Etsy shop! Someone ordered two sets of Happy Birthday chocolate covered Oreos. While I was making them, another order for the same thing came through so I tacked that on as well!

Jimmy got the kids in their new matching pajamas and then put Mordecai to bed. Once I finished up Etsy, Sadie and I snuggled in mine and Jimmy’s bed and read a few books together.

After that, Jimmy put Sadie to bed and I crashed. That was our day! As per the request of Sadie, we filmed a vlog of our day from start to finish. I know our day may seem mundane, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I love our time together and truly have so much joy in this season of life. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for my family. As usual, I already love having this memory to look back on 🤍

  1. OoooOO that Starbucks coffee sounds good!! I don’t normally like fruity tasting coffee, and it will absolutely destroy my stomach, but I will always try new coffee once. Plus I’m partial to new Starbucks coffee.

Scary about the possible tick bite, but glad they are treating for Lyme just in case.

I love the matching vests. Matching as an adult is almost more fun than it was when we matched people as children. HA.

AAAANNDD those cookies, as always. Beautiful.

    1. It’s so good!! When you worked at Starbucks, what was your favorite blend?

I was glad her doctor wanted to treat Sadie for Lyme, too. I think the benefits outweigh the risks, especially since it was a simple antibiotic!

I totally agree about adult matching! I LOVE it!

      1. I have a couple favorite blends from different regions: Sumatra (Asia Pacific) for a good earthy coffee, Caffe Verona (Asia Pacific/Latin American blend) for a dessert coffee with good cocoa flavor, and good ol House Blend (Latin America) is my current favorite and has been my go to for a few years now!

  2. what a busyyy day! I love the matching vests and pj’s – and picking them up at the mall is a win-win 😎 🎯

the math ninja program at the library is a great idea for Sadie to take part in- any fun way to learn math is def a plus in my book.

your day is not mundane at all- I love that you spend time with your kids, and are involved in everything they do- and they love their mama 🥰 that’s very evident!

    love, madre

    1. I never pass up a chance to hit up the mall, lol! Sadie too! All the matching makes my heart so happy 🙂

Sadie truly seems to love the math ninja program, so I’m really glad she can go and learn and meet other kids!

      Love you!!
