Six Things

Okay, I have a few random things to share. From what Mordecai calls me (spoiler alert, it’s not mom 🥴), to the last art project Sadie and I worked on, and more.

1. An art project with Sadie. Sadie picked out a paint by number kit to do for my mom’s birthday gift and we spent a few months painting it together. We would get out the supplies during Mordecai’s naps and paint away! The picture below is how it turned out.

I’m usually more of a watercolor gal, but this painting was a lot of fun. I would definitely do something like it again!

2. Sharing is caring? Mordecai decided to share his eye infection with me. I had him at urgent care on Sunday and he had pink eye in both of his eyes (it was as gross as you would think 😂). His slimly little baby hand poked me in the eye that afternoon and by Monday night my eye was itchy. I woke up on Tuesday with my one eye crusted shut. The worst part wasn’t having to go to the doctor and then the pharmacy and now having to take eye drops every four hours for a week. It was throwing away all my makeup. I didn’t have a lot in the first place, but it felt like throwing money away, you know?

Speaking of sickness, though, something that could only be described as a God thing to me happened on Sunday. We stayed home from church because we didn’t want anyone to catch pink eye. I felt bad staying home, and then our neighbor texted me and asked if we were home and if Jimmy knew how to tie a tie. My answer was yes and yes. It turned out that our neighbor’s dad passed away, they were going to his viewing, and her husband didn’t know how to tie a tie. Jimmy went over and helped him out and I felt glad that we stayed put that morning. We were needed for something right in our own neighborhood 🤍

3. Mordecai calls me Yaya. This is the most confusing thing because Sadie (and all the grandkids in our family) call my mom Yaya. It started out with Mordecai babbling Yaya in his crib when he woke up from naps, but now when he wants comfort, he lifts his arms up (like “pick me up!”) and looks at me and says Yaya. He says it when he wants me, when he sees me, when he’s looking for me. It’s so weird! He knows how to say the word mama. I don’t know what to think 🤣

4. Etsy is unpredictable. March was probably the busiest month I’ve ever had while selling on Etsy. I was getting multiple orders a day and I could hardly keep up! April so far? It has been very quiet! I’ve had a handful of orders, but I was getting a handful a day in March. I’m sure it has to do with the fact that St. Patrick’s Day and Easter both fell in March and the only holiday I think we have in April is Earth Day?! Either way, I am taking it all in stride and using my extra time to work on local orders and spend extra time with my family.

5. The Eclipse! Were you in the path of the solar eclipse this week? Pittsburgh wasn’t in the path of totality, but it was pretty close! I think 97% of the sun was covered here during the peak and it was very cool. It looked like dusk outside for a few minutes and the birds were chirping like crazy and acting strange. Niva was very confused as to why I kept looking up at the sky with weird glasses on!

“Mom, why are you looking at the sky?”

Oh, and for any fellow Twilight fans out there… I saw a meme that said “Not to spoil the eclipse for you but Bella chooses Edward.” 😂

6. Watercoloring has my heart. I just love watercoloring so much. Sadie and I painted pictures from this workbook and here’s how my school of fish turned out!

Do you have a favorite art form?

Did you see the eclipse?

    1. Thank you!! I wish I had more time to paint… someday haha! It is funny that he calls me Yaya. Today at church, it was time to leave and someone said “Mordecai, mom is here!” and he didn’t turn around. Then she said “Yaya is here!” and he started running towards me LOL. I wonder if he will always call me that?!

  1. Yaya loves the painting you and Sadie did for her! We’re hanging it at the beach house.

The pink eye going around is just crazy, and it’s funny you got it from Mordecai! 😂

    Love ❤️ You!

  2. hmmm – favorite art form… coloring in a coloring book with my pre-school aged grandkids (sorry, I have no artistic talent). We did see the eclipse, but we didnt have glasses, so it was a little rough – and I literally felt weird and had a headache that evening and the whole next day (like I’m not blind enough already).

We hung Sadie’s artwork at the beach house and it looks amazing :))

Oh – Decky – there’s only one YaYa – and it aint yo mama… JK! its hilarious though.
