Taking a Laundry Basket to the Post Office and Our Dog to the Library

A laundry basket at the post office? Why? Because I can’t hold Mordecai and Etsy packages at the same time 😂

Thankfully I have a little assistant who is always willing to join me on my errands. Especially because the postal workers always hand out lollipops to kids. Also, look at this post for a picture of Sadie as a toddler joining me at the post office. How is she growing up so fast?

While I often feel mom guilt for having a small business and working, I also like that Sadie sees me doing something I love. I hope it inspires her to go for her dreams!

I’ll tell you what, though. I have been burning the candle at both ends (and maybe in the middle, too, if that’s possible 😂) lately.

I try really hard to work on my little business when Jimmy is home and Mordecai is in bed so he can give Sadie attention, but sometimes Mordecai’s nap time looks like the picture below.

There have been many late nights making boxes, packing orders, and printing shipping labels. But I love it. So much!!

The “other end of the candle” has been therapy work with Niva. We had two visits this week. One at our usual school for Deaf children and the other was Meet a Therapy Dog night at our local library!

It was fun having a little talk at the library and kids were able to meet Niva and pet her. A few people were surprised to see a husky therapy dog and I was like me too, haha. I’m still surprised!

The more I work with her and meet people, the more I see how special she is. Niva is so sweet. I think she has a Labrador’s spirit in a husky’s body. She’s so friendly, gentle, social, and loving. Not aloof, independent, or sassy–at all.

The “middle” of my proverbial candle has been filled with co-op, desperately trying (and kinda failing) to keep up with laundry, housework, and just life in general!

Here’s how yesterday went: up at 5:00 am to get ready for co-op. Packed lunches for me and the kids, put Etsy orders on our doorstep for the postman to pick up, got the kids ready, sat in parkway traffic…

I’m pretty sure I can run a mile faster than I can drive it on the Parkway 🫠

Had our weekly homeschool co-op from 10 am – 1pm.

Hung out in more traffic driving home. Folded four loads of laundry (yes, I was very behind 🙈) outside while Sadie played in the yard and Mordecai napped. Once Jimmy was home from work, I worked on Etsy orders.

Then it was time for dinner. Right after dinner, Niva and I headed to the library for our therapy visit.

As soon as we got home, it was bath and bed time for the kids. Then I stayed up a little past ten to… you guessed it… work on Etsy 😂.

Today is Friday. I think it’s the first day this week with nothing on the agenda and I am so happy! I can’t wait to just chill with the kids. I was thinking the other day how most of the things I’m doing lately weren’t in my life a year ago.

This time last year, I wasn’t on Etsy. This time last year, Niva and I weren’t a therapy dog and handler team. This time last year, we weren’t part of a co-op. There have been so many positive, joyful changes in the last year. I am working on continually thanking God for the amazing things He has placed in my life and allowing myself grace for the moments when I’m unbalanced, overwhelmed, tired, and very behind on laundry 😜

What’s something you’re doing now that wasn’t in your life a year ago?

  1. You’re keeping busy but you can handle it! And the opposite is bad!

You’re good about scheduling blocks of time for certain tasks and knocking out the task with success!

    Love all the pics!

    Love ❤️You ,

    Dad

    🙂

  2. you have been such a busy girl, but you’re also extremely organized – make lists- and don’t procrastinate, so you do not take after me! haha.

I’m so proud of you and NIVA!! I love that she went to the library. Sadie is such a great helper in so many ways.

I guess having a new granddaughter within the past year has been an amazing blessing for our whole family! Our little Olive (Olo girl).

    Love you,

    Madre
