The title of this post pretty much sums up my life lately! We’re currently in a cold snap, but before that, we had some nice, warm weather. I was outside with the kids and decided to scrub our back door.
I wish I had a before picture. It was caked in mud. The clean door lasted about 24 hours before we got rain and it was once again caked in mud. How does it get muddy from top to bottom? Niva! She plays in the yard and then sprints full force into the door with her paws up 😂
Spring cleaning the door felt good, though! It’s the time of year when I start to do some deep cleaning (couches, I’m lookin’ at you). Do you do spring cleaning?
On the reading front, I’m still reading Risen Motherhood and just started The Life Giving Home for the book club my sister and I are in. Sadie and I are reading Tuttle Twins books together each night.
On the baking front, I was honored to make gender reveal cupcakes for a friend. I’ve also been working on local orders for birds nest cupcakes, granola, and brownies. For Etsy, I am deep in Oreo land and enjoying it!
Last but not least, I am working on buying warm weather clothes for the kids as spring is approaching. It’s weird having a boy and a girl because with each new season, I need to get them new clothes as they grow. Sadie doesn’t get hand-me-downs because she’s the oldest (in our family and our extended family) and Mordecai doesn’t get hand-me-downs because he’s the only son in our immediate family and he’s in the same size as his cousin, Titus.
I don’t mind buying the kids fresh (and thrifted) clothes for each season. It’s kind of fun to bargain hunt, thrift, and find things the kids like. It’s like a challenge for me each season. How inexpensive can I find wardrobe staples? How many pairs of shorts do they absolutely need? Can this dress still fit Sadie next spring? Plus, kids clothes are just too cute!
Sadie and I went to Ross and grabbed Mordecai three sets of clothes for around $33. Not too bad. We scored him a pair of overalls, a church outfit, and an outfit set with shorts, a tee, and a tank top.
So, that has been life lately over here! It’s Sunday and there’s snow on the ground. Crazy! Last Sunday it was 70 degrees and sunny. I’m not mad, though, because I will be inside covering Oreos in chocolate all day 😬

The spring cleaning question made me laugh. I hate spring cleaning, but wild horses couldn’t keep me from clothes shopping! P.s.: I’m a big fan of Mordecai’s cute outfits. Sounds like an amazing deal!
Hahahaha love it!!! Thank you for the sweet words about his outfits! That means a lot coming from you!
I enjoy clothes shopping but tend to only buy things when I absolutely need to replace old items. Although sometimes it’s just nice to get something new for the season – I bought a russet-coloured corduroy dress for Christmas and love wearing it!
Oooo, a corduroy dress sounds so pretty! I bet the russet color looks beautiful on you!
Thank you! It certainly makes my hair colour stand out haha. That reminds me — my team at work has a video meeting every morning (because we mostly all work remotely) and my manager’s 2-year-old sometimes joins. She has nicknamed me “Hair” 😂
Those cupcakes are so good! I remember my mom and older sister doing spring cleaning when I was a kid. I don’t remember my brothers and me being asked to help but we had outside chores to do. Cant wait to Mordecai running around in those new outfits!
Love ❤️ You!
Dad
🙂
Aww, thank you. I love hearing stories from your childhood. Thanks for telling Sadie the Crazy Daisy story! She told it to Jimmy word-for-word last night! Love you!
I love Deck’s new summer outfits- that little guy looks handsome in anything he wears!! It’s always been so fun to shop for Sadie- our little fashionista. It’s so funny she loves going into a store’s dressing room with 10 outfits and then modeling them 🤣
I really don’t spring clean- which is awful. It’s always been so daunting to me. I do go through closets and rooms and deep clean and organize from time to time- but I def should have a spring cleaning plan in place. Guess it’s a little late at this stage of my life 😐😐 (ps our back door is always caked with mud too 😭😭)
The gender reveal cupcakes were so so so gorgeous. You have an insane talent for baking and decorating baked goods that’s for sure!
love you!

SO true!! Sadie is miss shopper girl, too! It’s the best.
