Driving a Tesla, Training, and Notes from the Week

Hello! It has been a week since I last posted. The kids had the sniffles this week and then I got sick. But I’m here now! Let’s catch up ๐Ÿ˜Š

The first exciting thing to share from this week was that Mordecai started walking! He’s taking a few steps at a time and getting more confident each day. He had his 15 month check up on Monday and was deemed healthy. Yay!

Niva and I went on a therapy visit to a sporting goods warehouse. The workers there requested a therapy dog visit and Niva got to go home with a bag of tennis balls. Win-win situation!

I added two new listings on my Etsy shop page: Easter chocolate covered Oreos and Happy Birthday Oreos. Right now, the St. Patrick’s Oreos are keeping me busy and I’m really enjoying it โ˜˜๏ธ

Sadie insisted I drink coffee out of her Hello Kitty mug. So I did. Love Hello Kitty!

One of the trainers that evaluated Niva for therapy work offers one-on-one training, so I brought Niva to her facility for a session! I wanted to work a bit more on her leash manners.

The session went really well. I was given lots of tips and homework and it has already made such a big difference!

Our little fam spent some time in our hot tub. It’s always so relaxing.

Before the hot tub time? It was pure chaos in our house, haha. There was a diaper blowout situation and Sadie decided she needed to process the whole event by drawing a picture ๐Ÿฅด

Random question… did anyone lose cell service this week? I have AT&T and my phone was in SOS mode for most of the day on Thursday due to an outage and it was kind of scary! I had to be at our homeschool co-op, which is about an hour from Jimmy’s work. I had no way of getting in touch with him if I wasn’t in wi-fi, and even when I was my service was spotty.

Thankfully I was fine, my phone got service back eventually… but it got me thinking that I need to be more prepared for situations like that, inclement weather, emergencies, etc.

Do you have a disaster-type kit? Do you keep certain things on hand in your home or car? At home, we have first-aid supplies, candles, basic medications, extra blankets, and a flash light. In the car… I keep diapers, wipes, and a blanket. I’m thinking I need to have a bit more on hand ๐Ÿ˜‚

Last but not least, we test-drove a Tesla this weekend. Jimmy has been a big Tesla fan for a few years and he goes back and forth on trading in our current car for a Model Y. I’m pretty indifferent on the whole situation but not having to get gas ever again? That sounds pretty amazing.

We brought the kids along for the test-drive to see how their carseats would fit. I drove around a parking lot, Jimmy drove on the highway, and then he put it in self-driving mode and that was wild. Not sure what to think of that!

Now we’re onto a new week. I am hoping to feel 100% better by tomorrow ๐Ÿคž

How do you feel about self-driving cars?

How do you prepare for emergencies?

  1. Mordecai is ready to scoot for sure!
I would drink coffee out of the Hello Kitty mug!๐Ÿต I can say those cookies are so good! Thank you for making me some for my birthday! Sadies drawing is hilarious! The test drive sounds interesting!

    Love โค๏ธ You,
    Dad

    1. Yes! He is certainly getting there! Next time you come over (Tuesday?!) you are more than welcome to use the Hello Kitty mug LOL. Thanks for the compliment on the cookies and I hope your birthday was amazing! I wish you could have been with us for the test drive… it was wild!

      Love you!

  2. Oh no, I hope you feel better soon! I’m also recovering from being sick with a cold. Really looking forward to being able to breathe properly again and not having to breathe through my mouth haha ๐Ÿคง

Yay for Mordecai walking! I imagine he’ll be keeping you on your toes running all over the place. A fun spring / summer ahead ๐Ÿ˜Š

I heard about the outage as it was mentioned in the news here. I have pretty much the same emergency supplies as you at home, but nothing in the car. I should probably sort that out!

    1. I hope when you see this you can breathe properly!! I am thankfully feeling better, thank you!!

We are definitely in store for a busy summer with Mordecai being so mobile, haha!

The outage was so weird! It was like half the U.S. was completely unable to make phone calls!! I definitely need to take my own advice and start some extra emergency preparedness kits haha.

      1. Thank you! Thankfully I’m 99% back to normal now. It’s a relief to have more energy again. Glad to hear you’re better too.

Not being able to make calls would make me pretty anxious! I know this tech is so recent, relatively speaking, but we’ve all grown to rely on it so much. Saying that, I’m trying to cut down my phone usage and use it mainly for the essentials like calls and texts, as it’s an easy temptation to pick it up and scroll through Instagram etc.

  3. I hope you feel better soon!! I’m sure the nice weather this week will help a little!!
I DO NOT TRUST SELF DRIVING CARS. Just my opinion of course – cuz I’m old school for sure.
Decky took a few steps last night at church too!! He’s such a cutie pie!
Sadie’s drawing (and explanation of it) is hilarious! She’s such a story teller (like her mama).
I am definitely prepared for an emergency – in any way, shape or form. I def need to have a plan in place – sooner than later!
The Easter oreos look AMAZING!!!!! You’re such a creative baker/decorator!
I’m praying you feel better soon!
    Love you,
    Madre

    1. Thank you! I am back to normal–whew! The self-driving thing was scary! It’s hard to trust a car in that way haha.

Sadie’s drawing of the blowout incident… priceless! I am with ya on needing to be more prepared in case of an emergency!

Thank you for the sweet words about the Oreos ๐Ÿฅฐ
