The Night Before Thanksgiving

It’s the night before Thanksgiving for all my American friends! What are you up to for the holiday? I want to hear all about it!

Tonight we are laying low because both kids are sick. Poor Mordecai came down with a funky cough and the doctor at urgent care diagnosed him with croup and gave him a steroid.

He has pretty much lost his voice, which is pitiful, but I’ll take it over spending the night at Children’s Hospital around Thanksgiving like we did last year.

Sadie ended up with a high fever and headache today, so we’ve been doing lots of crafting and relaxing.

Niva had her fifth therapy dog training class this week! The class met at Home Depot so we could practice strangers meeting and petting the dogs. Next week’s class will be a practice test, and if she’s ready, the actual test will be next month.

I can’t believe we only have one more class left! The training has flown by and has strengthened our bond.

I also had an order for four apple pies this week, which was fun. I spent pretty much the whole day baking pies and loved every minute of it. Jimmy was a bit jealous of all the pies when he got home from work, so I made a fifth one just for him because it’s his favorite.

I’ve been having a blast going through all of Mordecai’s birthday gifts. Jimmy and Mordecai play with his Hot Wheels track nonstop and I’ve been oohing and ahhing over his adorable new clothes. Too fun!

Sadie and I just finished reading Snowpea the Puppy Queen from the Adventures in Fosterland Series, and now we’re on to an Itty Bitty Princess Kitty book. On my own time, I’ve been reading Let Your Mind Run.

We’ve also been Christmas shopping for a child in foster care. Each year, we participate in a stocking stuffer program for kids in need and get a wishlist from a child and fill a stocking for them. She has all the same interests as Sadie, so it has been fun to get Sader Tot involved in the gift giving!

Alright, I better end this post here. I’ve been in survival mode the past couple of days with sick kids and I need to prep our house for Thanksgiving (we’re having Jimmy’s family over!).

I’ll be baking a pumpkin pie, cleaning, catching up on laundry, and snuggling with my sick kiddos tonight 🤎

  2. Happy Thanksgiving!

Sorry to hear Mordecai and Sadie got sick! There’s so much sickness about at this time of the year when the temperatures drop and we all spend more time indoors. I hope they recover quickly and you have a relaxing Thanksgiving celebration.

    The apple pies look delicious!

      1. It was, thank you 🙂 I went to a gorgeous exhibition of Coco Chanel designs in London. I loved seeing all the beautiful dresses from the 1920s, ’30s onwards. It made me want to wear dresses everyday!

      2. London! Chanel! What a cool experience. I love dresses. I feel like the exhibit would be something Sadie and I would love to see together, haha. She’s my fashion girl. I hope you had a great time with your friend!

  3. As you know, I also spent Thanksgiving sick :(….
