Thank You, What’s Next, and Life Lately

Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post about my newly published book and prayer journal! I have been absolutely blown away by the love and support from those in my life and in this online community.

A Chance at Change novel by Allie Zottola

Like people want to read my book? Family and friends are excited for me?! I feel very, very loved.

I also feel vulnerable! Writing a novel is such a personal experience. I had a story in my head and different ideas and I put it on paper and it’s 100% mine. It feels raw, if that makes sense?

So, what’s next? Well, I feel like my creative floodgates opened once I published the novel and prayer journal. I have about ten million ideas floating around in my brain at any given moment.

A sermon notes journal is definitely coming in the future as well as a nonfiction book. After that, I’d like to delve into another novel I started a year or two ago or possibly write a sequel to A Chance at Change. Children’s books, devotionals, curriculum, and cookbooks are always on my mind, too.

I’m all over the place. We’ll see! I have two cute kids keeping me busy.

Sadie just finished up two straight weeks of daily swim lessons and I met a mom friend! While it’s fairly easy to meet other moms, it’s not as easy to truly connect, you know?

We’ve been pet sitting Niva’s best husky buddy the past few days and it’s always nice to have a dog friend to keep our high energy pup busy! They hunted and killed a rabbit together as a bonding experience. We went out in the yard and Niva was just crunching on a rabbit leg.

I got a pedicure recently and it was delightful. I always feel bad spending time and money on myself for things like that but I think I can justify it because I was supporting a local business 😉

Lots of baking has been happening around these parts, as always! I had a dream recently that I made braided bagels so I had to make it happen in real life and incorporate them into my baking business. Yes, these are the types of dreams I have. About bagels. Totally normal.

Braided bagels

My in-laws took Sadie blueberry picking over the weekend and she brought back a ton of perfectly ripe, sweet blueberries. So we made a blueberry crumble pie!

Our neighborhood had a family fun night on Friday and we went and watched the kids play and enjoyed time with our community. I love where we live. It was a perfect summer evening!

As for books lately, Sadie and I are reading this chapter book and I have a few more chapters left in this guided journal.

So, that has been life lately! Feeling all sorts of thankful and joyful during this season 😊

Tell me what you’ve been up to lately!

  4. YOU WROTE A BOOK!! Way to go, Allie!! Going to read that post now! ❤

Look at those adorable braided bagels!

  5. I’m trying to broaden what I read, so I’ve just now ordered a copy off of Amazon. It’s a great feeling to have completed something like that! I finally shot a novella off to Amazon a few weeks ago too – now the fun job of promoting it begins…

      1. Your book actually arrived in the mail today! (Amazon is quick at present, it seems)

My own book is here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CGWMXDTB?ref_=pe_3052080_397514860. I’d explain two things, just for the avoidance of doubt. I used a pen name, since I’ve written a fair bit, but on the law and I’d like to keep my fiction writing and professional writing separate. I chose a female name for purely commercial reasons: women buy something like 80% of all fiction sold. Know thy market!!

Next project for me will be a set of short stories. I have three written that are pretty good (one especially!); I think I need 2-3 more to make a decent book.
