It’s finally beginning to warm up here in Pittsburgh! Last Saturday, it snowed. This Saturday, I think it hit 80 degrees! It sure was nice to see the sun shining and go outside without gloves and a hoodie on, lol.
Sadie has been enjoying lots of popsicles and loves wandering around the yard. We’re hoping to plant our garden this week and I’m going to be baking a hamburger cake! If you remember this cake, you’ve officially read my blog for nine years! Jimmy and my brother-in-law requested I bake it for their birthdays, which are just a day apart 🙂
Something I’ve been doing lately to celebrate the spring weather is taking my watercolors outside and spending some time painting while Sadie plays in the yard.
Someone who isn’t into the warmer weather lately is Niva. She definitely gets tired out quickly in the heat!
I’ve been making sure Sadie and I walk her first thing in the morning, and then as a family we try to walk her around dinnertime when it cools off again.
Speaking of Niva, she and Malcolm are so excited to eat breakfast each morning that they make quite the ruckus when Jimmy and I get up. Our bedroom is right across from Sadie’s and they’re usually so loud that they wake Sadie up, so we decided to try a little experiment.
We like to have a cup of coffee first thing in the morning, but that usually gets hampered by the pets waking Sadie up and us tending to her and feeding them. So, I had the idea to make a little coffee bar in our bedroom so we could have our mugs of coffee in peace and not wake Sadie up at 5:00 am!
The verdict? It worked! We had coffee in peace and quiet and didn’t even have to leave our room. Most importantly, we didn’t wake Sadie up, lol. I don’t know if we’ll keep doing it, but it was nice to just sit in bed with a cup of coffee, pray, and stare out the window as the birds chirped!
Do you have a morning routine?
P.S. Our latest vlog is here!
Okay coffee bar in the bedroom, creative! The hamburger cake sounds good!
Haha, thanks! It was awesome!
I like your innovative thinking in putting a coffee bar in the bedroom. It sounds like it’s a great idea so you can have a peaceful start to the day. 🙂
My morning routine has changed a lot since I haven’t been commuting, and it’s changed for the better. Now, I try and start my day with stretches (pilates or yoga) and deep breathing. Much calmer than my usual frantic race to get ready for work! This morning I tried out one of Yoga with Adriene’s videos on YouTube and really liked it. 🙂
It was so fun! I’m thinking we should just keep our Keurig in the bedroom because that’s much easier than our coffee pot, lol! We will have to try that next 🙂
Yay for a better morning routine!! Stretching, yoga, and deep breathing sounds much more calming that racing around to get out the door! I’ve done a few Yoga with Adriene videos on YouTube and have always enjoyed them! She’s a great instructor 🙂
I LOVE the coffee bar in your bedroom idea soooooo much!!!
Look forward to seeing pics of your hamburger cake. 🙂
And YES to warmer days full of sunshine! We’re supposed to have lovely weather over the next few days too, and I’m SO excited. 🙂
It felt so special to have coffee in bed! Like our own little retreat, lol! Hope you guys are enjoying the warm summer-y weather!
Love the idea of the coffee bar in your bedroom! So clever and fancy. Like a penthouse hotel room. Perfect weather for popsicles – I’m glad Sadie has been enjoying some.
Yes, its totally felt like a penthouse hotel room!!
I clicked on hamburger cake! It must be a Pittsburgh thing. 😎
Aw, love that! Are you a fellow Pittsburgher?!
I’m not, but my best friend is so I learned about placing fries and coleslaw into almost everything.
Hah, that is awesome! Pittsburgh cuisine is definitely unique to say the least 😉 Thanks for stopping by, Addy!
A coffee bar in your room! Brilliant! It’s amazing the things we will do to make sure kiddos aren’t woken up any earlier than necessary! Have I told you that we disconnected our doorbell a few years ago? We tend to get package deliveries right at nap time and they would always ring the doorbell when they left the package and then Oreo would bark and then baby would wake. AH! So simple solution… we disconnected the doorbell, haha! We have a Ring doorbell system so it actually still comes to our phones so we can see who is at the door, but there’s no loud sound in the house anymore. One of the best home alteration decisions we’ve made. 😉
Oh, and the picture of Niva made me smile. Oreo used to sleep like that when he was younger! ❤
Haha, the doorbell is totally something we would do!! Nobody needs a baby waking up before they should! No one ends up happy in that situation, lol!
So sweet Oreo used to sleep like Niva does when he was younger! Must be a puppy thing!
