How Are You?

How is everyone doing? I hope this post finds you healthy and happy. We’re doing just fine over here in the Zottola household. We are healthy, we have food, a roof over our heads, and we’ve been able to connect with our families and church family via technology. God. is. good.

I’m just popping in to share some photos and thoughts from our life lately.

Some fun activities we’ve been doing while hanging out at home with Sadie girl:

  • Playing with play dough
  • Using re-usable stickers
  • Coloring and drawing
  • Baking and cooking
  • Taking walks around the neighborhood
  • Reading books
  • Chasing each other around the house (though this probably should stop because Sadie fell yesterday and almost bit through her lip… it was quite the bloody mess!!)
  • Playing with toys
  • Watching sign language videos
  • Filming vlogs
  • FaceTiming with friends and family

I baked double chocolate cookies with a bar of Lindt dark chocolate and they have been such a treat. I based the recipe off of this one. Also lots of sourdough action happening around here.

We’ve been staying positive and praying a lot. Like many others, Jimmy is currently out of work. We are making the best of it by trusting that God will take care of the situation, giving thanks for our health, and enjoying the extra time together as a family ❤

Sadie is always a source of joy for us, but especially so lately! She’s just so innocent and sweet and a huge blessing in our lives. Seeing her smile just lights up my day.

Last but not least, vlogging has been a fun distraction and a way to document this unique time in our lives. I’ve never vlogged on a Sunday before, so it was a fun little project while we hung out at home this weekend!

  1. I’ll be praying for the job situation and for provision! God has you and your beautiful family!!
And I can’t wait to watch your vlog with my kiddos tomorrow morning! I actually plan to vlog either tomorrow or Thursday myself, because it’s been awhile. And I too thought it would be a fun distraction. 🙂

    1. Thank you so, so much Nicole! That means the world to us to know you are praying and just to be reminded that God has us in His capable and loving hands!

I hope you guys enjoy the vlog and I’m so glad you can agree at what a fun distraction they are to film! I can’t wait to watch yours!

  2. The picture of your sourdough reminds me that I need to track down some yeast! Since I have so much time I want to try making bread but I don’t have yeast so that’s a problem ha. Unless I’m wrong, sourdough doesn’t use yeast so send me the recipe you use so I can try it out please 🙂

    1. Sourdough doesn’t use yeast, you’re right! King Arthur Flour’s website has a great recipe for sourdough starter! It takes about a week to get it going, but once you do, you’re good to go and can make bread every day without commercial yeast!

      1. Aw, I am so sorry! Starters can be finicky and downright tricky! One tip I’ve heard is to add a little honey when you feed it. Yeast likes sugar!

  3. I love all these videos where you put the camera down and film BOTH of you! I was inspired by the last one you did and filmed a few minutes of us doing yoga together and it’s one of my favorite videos! I need to send it to you!

  4. Glad to hear you’re all well. It must be hard with Jimmy not being able to work, though. I really hope we can all get back to our lives as normal soon.

I’ve been planning to make some chocolate cookies – the recipe you shared sounds tasty! With more free time, I’m spending more time in the kitchen. Yesterday I made vegan ‘parmesan cheese’ to go on top of zucchini gratin. Very quick and delicious!

Happy Sunday! I’ll save your vlog to watch later 🙂

    1. It has definitely been a bummer with Jimmy not being able to work, but we are making the best of it by spending time together as much as possible! Yay for more time in the kitchen to bake and experiment! I’d love to see that vegan cheese recipe. I love parm!
