Thank you to everyone who showed support in the comments section of my last post about Hearty Handfuls. You guys rock! I definitely have moments of nervousness about starting an Etsy shop, but overall I’m really, really loving it!
I’m happy to report that I sold and shipped my first order, and I added a new flavor of granola to my shop: gingerbread!
The gingerbread flavor features almonds, raisins, oats, molasses, and honey. It’s spiced with cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Basically, it tastes like a gingerbread man in granola form :-D.

Over the weekend I did a lot of two things: baking and studying.
This is a lovely webcam picture taken at Barnes and Noble. Sometimes I like to work on homework or study in different place than my “study cave” (my bedroom..) because it’s nice to switch things up!
Jimmy and I also studied our teacher’s guide for the preschool class we are teaching at our church this month!
We have a blast teaching the preschoolers at our church. They say some of the funniest things. This past Sunday, a little girl in our class said she thought I was nine-years-old, haha!
Jimmy and I also baked. Hannah volunteered me to make sugar cookies for a school function, and I was more than happy to roll up my sleeves in the kitchen.
We had one sugar cookie man casualty. Oops. We also baked strawberry cupcakes for our preschool class. I’m sure the kid’s parents were thrilled with us giving the kids a sugar high before they went home ;-).

So, that’s pretty much what I’ve been up to lately. I have also been playing with my older brother’s new puppy, Jax.
He’s a six-week-old golden retriever! My brother works at my family’s home real estate office, and usually brings his dogs with him to work.
So, when my brother is working, we have two dogs (Moses and Lola), two puppies (Brandy and Jax), and two cats (Felix and Lily) in the house. Cray cray!!

What have you been up to lately?
What’s your favorite granola flavor? (Let me know if you think I should add any flavors to my shop!)
What a cute puppy :). You guys definitely have a lot of animals in the house but it’s all good, it must be fun to have a big family with lots of pets (it’s just me and Clay here…). The sugar cookies look delicious and I love that one is missing an arm hehe. Good luck with teaching the kiddos at church, the 4-5 age group is always pretty cute and funny!
It is so much fun to have a lot of animals in the house! I am going to be sad when Jimmy and I only have one or two pets when I move out. I think it will be super quiet, haha!! Sometimes I have my moments of wanting quiet though!
I love that your family business includes so many pets. They keep it interesting, I’m sure. Those sugar cookies look delicious! Oh and how cute that the little girl thought you were 9 years old. And that probably seemed very mature and grown up to her! Sweetness!
Yes, pets definitely keep life interesting. They all keep me on my toes… all the time!
Aww, you brother’s puppy is gorgeous! I miss having a dog. 😦
Thank you! Yeah, dogs are definitely such a joy to have around!
We have been thinking about getting a puppy. But my mum is unsure about it because as you know, dogs are such a big commitment. When I’m away in Spain next year teaching English, my mum will be on her own and I think she is concerned about lack of freedom/spontaneity because you have to get home to take care of the dog and you can’t go out all day and leave them on their own. I would love a puppy though!
Oops, sorry about the typo! *your
Oh my gosh Jax is precious! Golden Retriever puppies are probably my favorite, and that’s saying a lot considering I am not a dog-lover. But even I get excited over how adorable they are! I remember helping my mom teach Sunday school back in the day. We always used to bribe the kids with candy… just what they needed at 11am on a Sunday 😉
Golden Retriever puppies are super cute! Every time I look at him, I’m just like “awwww!” haha.
Your a baking machine! I wouldn’t complain either, though. Therapy at its finest!
Jax is ADORABLE!!!!
Agreed! Baking is totally therapy!
oh my freaking god that puppy. dying.
Same here. Every time I see him!
Mmmmmmm cookie baking!!! I will be doing that TOMORROW 😀
And love me some JAX !
Yum! I hope your cookie baking went well!!
OMG TOO WELL! they’re flipping amazing! Posting the recipe video next week!
Hahaha only one casualty… I actually lol’ed at that! It’s so cool you got an order at your shop! Maybe you could add some kind of pumpkin flavor?!
Hahah.. the casualty was totally my fault, too! And the gingerbread men were the ones Jimmy made. He definitely gave me the stink eye after I broke one of his men’s necks haha.
I was thinking about adding a pumpkin flavor!! Good idea!
I’m catching up… but SO proud of you starting your Etsy shop! My sister is on Etsy too. I need to get on board. Can I buy some of those cookies? 😉
Thank you!! Can you send me a link to your sister’s shop? I would LOVE to check it out!
Sure! Here it is: http://www.etsy.com/shop/AllisonHallJewelry
Congrats on your new enterprise!! Fabulous! And they look good too 🙂
That’s a sweet little puppy, Allie! Nice to catch up here and to see you and Jimmy are teaching Sunday school. Very rewarding!
Thank you! It’s fun and scary all at the same time 🙂
And I agree, teaching Sunday school is incredibly rewarding!
Little kids are too funny! Toddlers are the best in my opinion…they are cute beyond belief, haha. But puppy cuteness > baby cuteness in my opinion. Jax is adorable :D!!
YES! Toddlers say the funniest things… all the time haha!
Such a cute puppy! 🙂
I agree!! Thank you!
I’ve been reading your blog for a little while now. I don’t remember how I found you, but I’m glad I did. I live in Quebec, Canada. Would you be willing to ship granola over here? I saw on Etsy that you said only the US. I would love to try some.
Thank you for reading! That made my day!
I am definitely willing to ship to Canada! I’ll shoot you an email right now 🙂
I think your granola sounds (and looks) SO delish!! I will be ordering some soon!! 🙂
Thank you and woo hoo!! I hope you are enjoying your piano/music studying!!
Yay for breaking! That gingerbread sounds so perfect for the holidays!
And ohhhh the puppy, my heart is melting!
That’s what I was aiming for! A holiday-type granola!
Hope you’re doing well 🙂
Baking* not breaking. lol
Congrats on the first sale! That has to be the hardest. Oh man, that puppy is just too adorable! Squee!
Thank you! I was beyond excited for my first sale! Probably overly excited 😀
You had me a gingerbread. Ordering right now! Sending it to Trav’s parents house in case it doesn’t get here before we leave! 🙂
Thank you so much!! It is on its way right now! Yahoooo!
Gingerbread granola is a BRILLIANT idea! I love that! Also, Jax couldn’t be any cuter! Love his little face!
