pet sitting

Currently: November 2017

Current book The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. I’ve been reading a few pages each day during my devotion time. I’m not reading anything for leisure, though. Any recommendations?!

Current obsession Having our pets complete “puzzles” to earn their food. Our trainer recommended using puzzles to keep Mavis’ mind busy, and we got all the animals involved. It has been really neat to watch each of the pets figure out the puzzles. Lola is definitely the best because nothing gets between her and her food 😉

Current indulgence Napping when Mavis is sleeping!

Current beauty product Micellar Water. I was skeptical of how well it would work, but this stuff is amazing at cleansing and I love the fact that I don’t have to rinse it off!

Current procrastination Painting our office. I have a paint sample on the wall that has been sitting there for months. Eek! Maybe I’ll get that done by the end of the year?

Current goal Still wanting to finish writing my book by the end of the year but I’ve been majorly slacking lately. Well, not slacking, just very busy!

Current craving A weekend away with Jimmy, perhaps a visit to West Virginia?

Current mood Happy and hopeful. Mavis had her second puppy level II class on Monday and did great! I’m really hoping, praying, and working toward having her become a therapy dog so we can visit hospitals, schools, nursing homes, etc. together. It’s a lot of work, but we are both loving it!

Current food Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I’m working on perfecting a recipe. I have the texture and flavor down, but need to experiment with a different type of chocolate chips. I take my baking seriously!

Current blessing Having Jimmy home safely from his trip.

Current confession I feel totally behind on my real estate work. When I began working for my parents’ business, I thought I would mostly be doing that, and sprinkling in pet sitting to fill in the gaps. It has actually been the other way around, with pet sitting becoming a full time gig. There’s a lot of upkeep and things to be done in the real estate world, so I often find myself wishing there were a few more hours in the day. Either way, having too much work is quite the blessing. I’m definitely not complaining!

Pet sitting has been keeping me busy!

Current need Totally random, but I need socks. I’ve been stealing Jimmy’s when I run out (I totally fit his socks because I have biiig feet!) and he’s not too happy about it. I’ve heard these are a good brand, so maybe I’ll order them soon.

Current excitement The upcoming holiday season! This time of year is so incredibly special.

Current drink Coffee with peppermint mocha creamer. My mom had me try this combo when I slept over last week and it was delicious. Remember when I first blogged about her obsession with this creamer? It’s still going strong 😉

Current prayer A family in our church had their baby in the NICU for months and months, and she was cleared to go home but is now back in the hospital. I’m praying for health for her and strength for the family.

Current question Where would you travel for a weekend trip?

Pumpkins, Pet Sitting, and Puppies

Hi and happy Friday! I’ve wanted to blog all week, but my schedule was jam-packed. I really missed this space!

I have a little chunk of time to blog this morning before I pet sit and do some baking for a birthday party, though. Hopefully Mavis, Malcolm, and Lola behave so I can write this in a reasonable amount of time 😉

The title of the post starts with pumpkins, so that’s what I’m going to start with! Jimmy and I packed up Lola and Mavis last Saturday and headed to my sister and her husband’s house for the day. They wanted to take us to a local farm to pick pumpkins!

While we don’t celebrate Halloween, we do celebrate fall, and it just seemed quintessentially fall-ish to pick pumpkins!

We also took the dogs on a walk, cooked dinner together, and relaxed. I hadn’t been to Hannah’s house since the day of her bridal shower, so It was fun to see how she and Josh have made it their own with decor and personal touches.

As for pet sitting, it has been busy and so rewarding. I have especially loved bringing Mavis along for all of my visits. She’s my little working buddy, and all of my clients like that their dogs get some social interaction. Definitely a win-win situation!

Dogs sitting together Havanese and cocker spaniel puppies

As for the puppies in the title of this post, I’ve been hanging out with a lot of pups lately. I’d say about half of the animals I pet sit right now are puppies. It keeps me on my toes since puppies like to explore the world with their mouths, and find plenty of ways to get into trouble, haha.

Jimmy and I also had our friends from church over recently and they brought their puppy along to meet Mavis and Lola and it was adorable seeing them play together. Our friends’ puppy is a gorgeous beagle-husky mix!

I’ve also been doing some baking this week! My cousin is having a birthday party tonight and I’m making him a Lego cake.

I did a practice run earlier this week to get a feel for how I want to do everything. The practice cake could definitely use some work, but I was putting the finishing touches on it close to 10 pm on Tuesday night and just wanted to go to bed, ha.

Lego Cake

I’m making the actual cake today, so hopefully all goes well!! It’s going to be a mix of chocolate and vanilla cake layers with vanilla frosting. I’ll let you guys know how it turns out 🙂

Speaking of my cousin, he spent the day with me on Wednesday and we had such a lovely day together! We spent the day pet sitting and making some Lego treats. We even filmed a vlog together!

What have you been up to lately?!
