Life Lately According to My Camera

Life lately has been full in the best way—silly art projects, library story time, a job site visit with Jimmy, and lots of fresh air in between.

Here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to recently!

Up and Down Weather 🌦️

We’ve had some really nice, warm days! Perfect for biking and getting out on walks.

We had snow on St. Patrick’s Day. Our neighbor was pet sitting our in-law’s dog, and Niva was loving all the playtime in the snow as they ran along the fence!

We were determined to get outside, even when it was in the 30s! It puts everyone in a good mood.

The extra daylight has been so lovely in the evenings!

Now that spring is officially here, I am hoping we don’t see any more snow. Early spring weather is so unpredictable but we always manage to find a way to make the best of it!

Out and About 📚

I brought the kids to story time at the library. Sadie enjoyed it, Mordecai absolutely loved the singing time, and Dakota crawled all around while ripping books off the shelves.

Jimmy was working at a job site nearby so we brought him a coffee and visited! Mordecai especially loved seeing daddy in action.

And we made a trip to the grocery store where Sadie somehow squeezed into the cart with Dakota!

Our simple outings always manage to break up our days and have been some of our sweetest moments lately!

Playing with Paint 🎨

I’m not sure who loves to paint more: me or the kids?! Sadie loves to watch videos where people buy a squishy (kind of like a stress ball) and give it a “makeover” by painting it. When she mentioned doing it, I was game! So that’s how we found ourselves painting squishy toys!

Sadie was super into it! I’m not going to lie, I got deep into it, too. It was oddly satisfying to come up with a new design for the toys.

Here’s how they came out! Sadie chose a cat squishy and decided to cut its ears off and make it a human ballerina!

I chose a dinosaur and made it a yellow rainbow dinosaur (that Sadie accidentally got a swipe of paint on its cheek 🤣) and a tiger that I turned into a raccoon!

I can’t say I’ve ever thought of painting a squishy toy but it was a lot of fun to do that little project with my Sadie girl!

A Party + Everything Else 🥳

Our nephew, Lawson, is turning five years old this week! My sister put on such a fun party for him this weekend. All the kids made homemade pizza, we enjoyed spending time outside by a campfire, and caught up with family!

Dakota got to go on a trampoline for the first time. She wasn’t sure what to think!

And Sadie loved visiting all the chickens. She wants chickens so badly. I told her that our high-prey-drive siberian husky also wants chickens so badly. 😆

The kids enjoyed playing at my mother-in-law’s on Saturday!

Aura Bora sparkling water

I tried this sparkling water and was surprised at how the flavor is so unique and refreshing!

Solely fruit gummies

The kids picked out these two ingredient fruit gummies at the store. Mordecai loved them and Sadie said they tasted like boogers. So, there’s that!

Baby sleeping on back in crib

Dakota sleeps on her back with her arms under her head and it’s just too cute!

We had a lovely Sunday at church! It was downright balmy outside when we left. Sadly, we have storms coming in this evening though. 😩

Other Notes and Thoughts 📝

  • Scripture I’m loving: Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Ephesians 6:10-11 🙏🏻
  • Mordecai has a pretend barber shop kit and it’s so funny to see the kids (and sometimes adults!) play with it. 😂
  • I took the kids on a walk and saw a forsythia bush blooming for the first time this season! ☀️
  • Mordecai has been loving when I read him Good Night Tractor lately. 📖
  • Sadie and Mordecai had so. much. fun. launching paper airplanes with this kids electrical engineering kit. ✈️
  • Recipes I plan on making this week: marbled chocolate pistachio bread and sloppy joes. 🤤
  • Dakota is going to the dermatologist and allergist this week. Whew! Hoping we can get to the bottom of all these rashes she has going on. 😕
  • Mordecai was playing with his Legos and made a house. He said “Mom, I made you a house with two generators!” and he stole my heart. 🤣

That’s it for today’s post! We have some up and down weather coming this week, school time, and appointments for Dakota. Should be a busy and fun week!

Have you tried any new food/drinks/snacks lately?
