I finished up the 12 dozen cupcakes for a wedding. Whew! It took me all. day. long. on Wednesday but felt so great to get 144 cupcakes baked, decorated, and then off to the bride!
She asked for vanilla, white, and chocolate cupcakes with teal and burgundy buttercream frosting and copper accents. Here’s how they came out!
Which do you like better? I think I’m partial to the teal. It was fun making the frosting so vibrant! My mixer from our neighbor Bernadette really came in handy. I love that thing. From the window (no powdered sugar puffing up into my face!) to the sheer power (six sticks of butter and 4lb of powdered sugar for each batch!), that thing put in the work.
Some of my favorite cupcake baking + decorating tools:
- Nutrimill Artiste Stand Mixer –> Makes mixing a breeze.
- 24-Cup Muffin Pan –> I can bake two dozen cupcakes at once!
- Wilton Gel Food Colors –> My favorite way to add color without making the frosting runny.
- 16-Inch Pastry Bags –> Disposable, affordable, and they fit a ton of frosting at once.
- Madagascar Vanilla Extract –> I can really tell a difference when I use this versus other vanilla extracts!
- Wilton 2D Piping Tip –> Perfect for piping roses 🌹
- Plastic Cupcake Containers –> They hold two dozen cupcakes, perfect for big orders!
- Foil Baking Cups –> I’ve found cupcakes don’t stick to the foil liners like they do with paper ones.
Welp, you saw some sweet bakes. How about some even sweeter faces?
Dakota is now old enough for a bouncer/activity center! The first year of a baby’s life requires so much random paraphernalia from swaddles to bassinets, cribs, seats, and more. It’s always fun to see them discover something new! Even Sadie and Mordecai play with it 😂
Jimmy and I took the littles on a walk (Sadie was playing with her friend!) and Mordecai started out on his bike and Dakota started out in her stroller. You can see how that turned out 😉
Dakota enjoyed digging into her toy basket! So many of those toys were Sadie’s, then Mordecai’s, and now hers. It’s so sweet to have memories of each of the kids playing with those rattles, teethers, and stuffed animals.
It’s also precious to see all three kids play together! Sadie and Mordecai were setting up some sort of magnatile/Hot Wheels track and Dakota enjoyed watching.
Okaaaay, one more baking picture! Someone ordered cinnamon streusel muffins for a home inspection. Maybe they figured yummy-smelling muffins would make it go smoothly?! I hope it did and I hope they enjoyed ’em!
Other notes and thoughts:
- Sadie and I rode bikes around our neighborhood after Jimmy came home from work one night this week and it was really fun to get out one-on-one with my big girl. She rides her bike for hours each day!
- We’re driving home from the aforementioned wedding as I type up this post! Mordecai was so cute as the ring bearer. I can’t wait to share pictures 💍
- How is it August already?! We’re looking forward to going to the county fair this month. I hope some goats surround me again!
- I need to restock some granola (I love to have some as a snack!): I’m thinking coconut almond… or maybe chocolate peanut butter!

That was nice of y to make those cupcakes for Breanna! And they look so good!
As always love the pics!
Love ❤️You!
Dad
🙂
Thank you! I learned generosity from the best–aka you and mom!! Love you so much!
the wedding cupcakes look beautiful, and the shades of teal and burgundy looked like perfection! I’m sure the bride, groom and everyone at the reception totally enjoyed every bite- your cupcakes are always a huge it to any celebration. I would also love to try a cinnamon streusel next time you make a batch 🥰
I love when your kids play together too! It’s the sweetest.
Sadie is always riding her bike now- I’m so glad she has such a great handle on all the safety aspects of riding too!
love you,
Madre
Thank you so much. They couldn’t have happened without YOUR help with the kids!!!! I love you so much!
