Scenes from a Monday + A Vlog

We had just a normal ‘ol Monday to start the week. Jimmy and I were up around 5:00 am for coffee and Bible time (+ feeding Dakota, lol). I’m currently studying the life of Moses and Jimmy is studying the book of Job. Then Jimmy was off to work, the kids were up for the day, and I started getting the house put together after the weekend.

I had my phone set up (we filmed a vlog, per Sadie’s request!) and Mordecai figured out how to take a picture within a video?! I don’t even know how to do that 😂

What’s your opinion on dishes and kitchen cleanup? While I love waking up to a pristine kitchen, I am often too tired at the end of the day to bother. I’m usually more fresh in the morning and tackle tasks then. Jimmy? He would rather stay up late and finish dishes than do them in the morning. He’s more of a night owl than me 🦉

Sadie picked up this book off her shelf and read to Dakota and Mordecai while I was cleaning up the kitchen and it was so sweet. It’s really rewarding to work with her day in and day out with homeschooling and then to see her read on her own, for fun (to her siblings!!) was so sweet!

I also brewed a second cup of coffee. The beta blocker gel that Dakota is currently taking messes with her nighttime sleep/blood sugar (she wakes up and eats more in the night, lol), so mama is tiiiired!

The kids played with Sadie’s doll house and called her cousin to wish her happy birthday. I can’t believe it has been six years since Sadie gained two cousins within five days!!

I worked on random household tasks that had been bugging me: cleaning out kitchen drawers and scrubbing walls. Dakota was napping and we played outside for a bit. Before we knew it, it was Mordecai’s nap time. Sadie always joins me when I lay him down and sometimes she reads to him. I love that she is home to have these moments with us!

Sadie read Mordecai Just One More, and then I read the kids Near: Psalm 139, and Where’s the Digger? before covering up Mordecai with his favorite garbage truck blanket. I walked straight from his room into Dakota and Sadie’s room because Kota Bear was up from her nap.

I fed Dakota on our porch swing while Sadie did her reading lesson for the day: she had to read a story in her curriculum’s storybook.

We then went inside so I could change Dakota’s diaper and then we moved on to Sadie’s math, spelling, and Bible lessons. We did those on mine and Jimmy’s bed!

Once Sadie finished up, she got some time to play Minecraft and I had Dakota do tummy time. Before I knew it, she was sucking her fingers and looking extra sleepy.

I laid Dakota down for a nap and then Mordecai woke up! Jimmy came home from work and Sadie jetted off to play with her neighborhood friends.

I took a quick shower and then Mordecai requested pancakes for dinner. We made Funfetti pancakes together (along with sausage!). He was so happy to mix and pour!

Jimmy, Dakota, Mordecai and I hung out on our porch swing while I fed Dakota. Our neighbor gave Decky a popsicle and he was very excited. I gave Dakota a bath and then we got ready to pick Sadie up from her friend’s house up the street so we could go on a walk while she rode her scooter.

We all agreed that it was the perfect night to jump in the hot tub! We made our walk a quick one and then I laid Dakota down for bed and we took the “big kids” into the hot tub for some relaxation time before bed!

After hot tub time, Jimmy and Mordecai took a shower together while Sadie and I read in my bed together. Jimmy laid Mordecai down and Sadie and I fell asleep together. I woke up to Jimmy bringing her to bed and then fell back asleep until Dakota had me up for her first nighttime feed!

And that was our day with an (almost) three month old, 2.5 year old, and 6.5 year old! It was filled with ordinary life and so much joy with our little family. Below is a vlog of the day 🙂
