I have thoughts! Not many. My brain is so foggy from lack of sleep lately haha. For example, I went to our local gas station to put gas in our car and buy a bundle of firewood so we could have a bonfire. I had to remind myself 5x not to go to the counter and say “I want to buy gas” (because I bought it at the pump, lol) but to say “I want to buy a bundle of firewood.” 🤪 I don’t even know if that makes sense. The struggle is real!
Anyways, here are some photos and sleep-deprived thoughts!
1. Can he stop growing? Ever since Dakota was born, Mordecai just feels and looks so grown up. He loves blowing bubbles around the yard with his leaf bubble blower toy and it’s too cute! We went to Jimmy’s work the other day and Mordecai went with Jimmy into the shop to operate the crane–his favorite!–and he came out all dirty. We drove home and he fell asleep. Before bringing him inside, I took a moment to just study him. His cute dirty hands, his full cheeks, his blonde hair, his long eyelashes. I love this boy so much 🩵
2. Funny moments. Speaking of Mordecai, I have been meaning to start some learning activities with him. I used to do so much with Sadie (starting at 18 months with this!!) and I have definitely slacked with Mordecai… but this book has helped me to see that little ones don’t absolutely need structured school so young. Anyways, I’m working on trying to teach him his colors (Jimmy laughs at me because I’m convinced Mordecai is colorblind 😆). Sadie gets so excited to “do school” with Mordecai. I pulled out her Abeka Preschool for 2s curriculum and went over colors.
Me: “Grapes are….?”
Mordecai: “Yummy!”
Cue me and Sadie dying of laughter! He was supposed to say “purple!” 😂 We’re workin’ on those colors!!!
3. I missed my feet! I took the kids to the park the other day and it was warm and sunny! Warm enough that Sadie decided to take her shoes off and run on the squishy playground surface. She ran past me and I heard her say “I missed my feet!” and I was like “Wait, what?!” and she explained that she missed being barefoot outside all winter. How cute!
4. School outside. Our weather was nice enough that we did school outside. YAY! This week we had a little routine of hanging out in the morning, going to a park, and then doing school during Mordecai’s nap. It worked really well! We’re currently on day 119 (out of 180) of school for the year 🎉
Speaking of this past week… we made it through our first “normal” week as a family of five! It went better than I expected. I had so much support and help and love. Praying this coming week goes just as well!
5. Reading lately. Sadie loves the Adventures in Fosterland book series and the newest book in the series just came out! We started it the other day and I’m even excited, lol. I just love reading. Recently, I was sitting on our porch swing and feeding Dakota while reading this midwifery memoir while Sadie played in the yard. She wandered over and asked what I was reading so I read her a bit of it and she was surprisingly engaged and interested!
6. Back to the homeschool room. We did school outside a few days and then we spent one day at Jimmy’s work to do school. It felt good to be back in the homeschool room! It was only the second time we had been since Dakota was born about three weeks ago. Hopefully we will get into a good routine and be able to get there more and more as we wrap up the school year!
It’s neat how things look so different than they did just a few weeks ago. Now we have Dakota doing tummy time while she watches Sadie do math and Mordecai helps Jimmy run the shop’s crane. I love it so much.
7. The little things. My mom and I took the kids out to Wendy’s and ate dinner in the back of the car and they thought it was the best. night. ever. I am always inspired to enjoy the little things like they do.
8. A cute surprise. Jimmy and I were recently out at a store and I saw a handheld milk frother. I told him how that is exactly what I need for mixing Mordecai’s morning hot chocolate. A few weeks later, a package came for me… Jimmy sent me a handheld milk frother! It has upped our hot cocoa game and Mordecai looks forward to his morning cocoa even more now haha. Side note: who remembers when I bought an electric milk frother and would just drink mugs of frothed milk 😂
9. Jimmy with our kids. I love seeing Jimmy with our kids. He is so sweet and fun. End of story!
10. Sonic the Hedgehog handwriting. Sadie just finished up a Minecraft handwriting workbook and asked if I could find her a Sonic one. I couldn’t… so I made one! She was so thrilled when I showed it to her. I love that she’s at the age where she still thinks I’m kinda cool sometimes 😜
11. Being an adult. We received Dakota’s birth certificate in the mail and I realized we have five birth certificates floating around our house and we should probably put them somewhere safe. So I decided to be an adult and bought a fireproof safe!
12. Spring bonfires. It’s the time of year that I crave a little family bonfire night and we made it happen twice this past week! S’mores and all!
13. Spring cleaning. I got the itch to go through our medicine cabinet and discard expired medications and just generally organize things. It felt great to do a little spring cleaning! Next up: going through Sadie and Mordecai’s summer clothes from last year to see what still fits, what needs to be stored and/or donated, and what I need to buy for this spring and summer for them.
14. Brain fog. I was so excited for Pi Day this year. I was going to make a pie, of course! So, March 13th came and I was seeing all sorts of advertisements for Pi Day and I thought, I better put that on my calendar for next week! Then I realized… it was Pi Day. I think my brain is still stuck in February? Or I’m just out of it from broken sleep? We WILL be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, though! I bought lamb, shamrock shake ingredients, a green tablecloth, green napkins, chocolate coins for the kids, etc. and I can’t wait ☘️
Okay, I have more to share (Sadie and I did some baking together this week!!) but my 14 random thoughts are probably more than enough for today 😉

I’m so happy you’re all getting into the swing of things with 3 children with totally different schedules ~ you’re rocking it mama!!
I guess the main thing on my mind right now is I have been running a little more (and not hating it) and reading more (and loving that!!) I highly recommend the book The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. Game.Changer. – for me.
also, I love reading Bible plans offered by the Bible app. – so motivating and awesome.
love you,
Madre
