In case you missed it in a recent post, I’m so excited to share that my sister and her husband are expecting twins in 2025!
They will now be the parents of five kids (ages five and under!) as they have their daughter Caroline (age 5), sons Lawson (age 3), and Titus (age 2) and then the twins will arrive sometime this spring, as Hannah is due in early May!
When I found out about Hannah’s exciting news, we had so much to talk about. We thought it would be fun to collaborate on a series of blog posts (like we did about her son Titus being growth restricted during his pregnancy) to share her experience.
We decided to do this interview style, so I got to ask her a whole bunch of questions. Without further ado, welcome Hannah!
Twins!! Congrats! How and when did you find out you were having twins?
Thank you! And thank you for helping me to get all of my thoughts out about this whole situation by doing a blog post! lol. I found out on Tuesday October 8th, 2024. We found out we were expecting on Friday August 30th.
Did you have any feeling/hints you were expecting twins?
Well, yes and no. It’s funny to me because Josh and I joked multiple times about having twins and how crazy it would be. I think we began to joke about it because some symptoms seemed so advanced so early on. The biggest one being hunger. I can’t explain how quickly and how much more hungry I have become. I also began to feel my belly growing a lot quicker than I had remembered, but I chalked all of that up to the fact that this was my 4th pregnancy.
How many weeks are you and how has the pregnancy been so far?
I am 11 weeks. So far it has not been bad. Some nausea here and there, but really nothing notable. I have been bloated and have had general GI annoyances. I have definitely been tired and have started to show early on (at least I see myself showing lol). But all in all, it has been great. I am thankful for healthy babies according to my ultrasound last week and I feel healthy myself.
Do you know what type of twins are you having?
I am not sure if they are identical or fraternal, but I am leaning towards fraternal because they are in 2 different sacs and have their own placentas. Do any twin moms have good insight on this?!
How are you feeling emotionally?! Tell me what has been going through your mind since you found out!
I mostly feel humbled. God has richly blessed us with three children and is entrusting us now to carry two more into this world, Lord willing. I feel excited and nervous! Bringing one baby home is the most amazing feeling and also a big adjustment. I’m wondering how different it will be with two. I’m also in a state of thinking of a million questions to ask my doctor when I see them next lol. I know next to nothing about twin pregnancy or having and taking care of twins!
Let’s talk logistics. Will anything change with where you live/the car you drive/etc.?
Nope! Our van seats 8, so we will have 1 seat left! We live in a 3-bedroom, 1 bathroom house. We will have to move the kids rooms around possibly depending on gender! Right now our boys share a room and Caroline has her own room. If it’s two girls, we’ll probably make the bigger room (where the boys are now) the girl room. If it’s two boys, all four boys will be in that big room. If it’s one of each, then all rooms will remain the same and each will gain a baby! For the beginning though, the babies will be with us in a (possibly double?) bassinet. Logistically we will probably need another infant car seat as well as high chair, bassinet, and a different stroller. I guess maybe more clothes if there is a girl in the mix. We recently got rid of Caroline’s baby clothes!
How did your kids react?
They are very excited and just keep breaking the news to friends & acquaintances alike by saying, “we’re going to have 2 babies!” Haha. Caroline wants at least one girl.
How did your husband react?
Pretty much the same as I did! I told him not to come to the ultrasound because it was just a dating check for growth and it wouldn’t be worth missing work. Well, he was bummed he missed it haha. Anyway, I called him and said, “Well, it’s twins!” And he was silent for a moment and then just said “Wow! Well that’s crazy!” Or something like that.
How about everyone else in your life?
Everyone else is excited, supportive, and super happy for us.
Do you know the genders? If not, do you have a feeling or any guess?
No I do not. I honestly have no inclinations at the moment, but Lord willing, we will find out December 13th at our anatomy scan. I seriously can’t wait!
What’s your biggest concern?
My biggest concern is the health of the babies/possible hospital stay after birth (probably in the forefront of my mind because of our hospital stay with Titus) and the possibility of needing a c-section.
What’s the biggest blessing?
Seeing how God always answers prayers in His timing. We were praying to have another child, and God blessed us. As Caroline put put it, “You prayed for a baby every night, and so I think God gave you two!” Also, I am looking forward to my faith growing through all of this and learning through the process. I want to be more like Jesus everyday and I truly believe that God uses each and every circumstance of our lives to aid us in doing so.
How is God working in your life and heart during this season?
I think God is teaching me to SLOW DOWN. He is also teaching me contentment and priorities. He is teaching me to be in the moment and to let go of the uncontrollable. He’s showing me my support system and how big of a blessing they are. He’s teaching me that He answers prayers in His timing and often when we surrender control to Him and He’s with me every step of the way.

Wow what an exciting time for your whole family, Allie!!! Congrats to your sister, her husband and you all. Praying for a healthy pregnancy for everyone!! 😊
Thank you sooo much!
Congratulations to Hannah and her husband! Twins, wow, that’s amazing! Do you have any twins in your side of the family or in Hannah’s husband’s family?
Tears in my eyes. Thank you for shraing!
Love You!
Dad
🙂
As I recall it, two amniotic sacs translates to fraternal rather than identical twins. Good luck, and expect to be buying nappies in lots of 2000 a time (no, I’m not joking)!
That’s what we’re thinking! She’s excited to find out for sure!
love this post!! I really need to learn more about what to expect when expecting twins that’s for sure! Dad and I are truly so blessed with grandchildren 🥰🥰
love you!
madre
