Niva made another best friend! The girl who owns Niva’s best husky buddy is fostering a boy husky named Thomas and of course we had to have all the pups together for a day. They got along so well and all tired each other out!
Isn’t Thomas a funny name for a husky? We ended up calling him Tom Tom. I hope he finds a home. He’s really sweet and friendly 🙂
Mordecai is finally big and brave enough to ride with Sadie in her car around the yard! It’s a sight to see.
Speaking of Mordecai, we were praying before dinner the other night and he folded his hands as he usually does and then when we finished praying he said “Amen!” clear as day. He hasn’t done it since then, but I will cherish that memory forever 🥰
Etsy and local orders are keeping me fairly busy! Lately I have been doing lots of chocolate covered Oreos as well as cupcakes.
These were for a bridal shower! I had fun making the bride and groom’s initials in chocolate and putting them on a few Oreos.
These strawberry cupcakes with vanilla buttercream roses were also for the bridal shower!
One of the most popular items in my Etsy shop lately is birthday-themed chocolate covered Oreos. I ship at least a few orders out every week. Also, someone contacted me on Etsy this week and asked if I could do my biscotti wholesale for their restaurant… but they wanted 5,000 units a month. That would be 161 biscotti a day. Definitely out of the realm of possibility since it’s just me doing the baking haha. I hate passing up opportunities like that!
I made some chocolate covered Oreos for Jimmy’s step brother and sister. His step brother has strep throat and his step sister requested some so she doesn’t catch his sickness. Oreos totally stave off sickness, right?!
Sadie went to the post office with me to drop off orders and brought her axolotl stuffed animal. She gave it to me and said “My axolotl is 60 so she doesn’t need to be buckled up in a carseat.” Makes sense!
I love when Niva does the Siberian swirl! She tucks up into a little ball and uses her tail to cover her nose. She had a great therapy visit this week. The kids liked watching her do the puzzle I brought along.
Mordecai’s favorite sign is definitely “more.” He saw granola I had just baked before he took this picture and he was saying “more, more, more!”
Other things of note from life lately:
-> Niva has escaped out of our front door twice in the past week (due to Sadie opening it to get the mail, lol) and both times she went on a joy run and then went to our neighbor’s front door 🤷🏼♀️
-> I’m working on a menu for my business for the month of May. Definitely going to include some patriotic and mom-themed things since we celebrate Memorial Day and Mother’s Day next month.
-> I’ve been writing up a storm lately. I started my second novel (!) and a book for Sadie among other things haha. I know I would finish things faster if I focused on one thing at a time but I just want to do everything all the time!
->I’m almost finished reading Risen Motherhood for the second time and it was just as great as the first time I read it. I’m also reading this book and loving it.

Tom Tom is such a sweetie!! I can’t believe how the 3 huskies got along so well. The cupcakes and Oreos for the bridal shower came out beautiful- you should be so proud of your hard work!
Sadie and Decky in the car together is adorable!! And him signing ‘more’ is wayyy too cute!
I recently read John Stamos’s memoir and it was very good!
love you
madre
He is!! I hope we get to have him over for a playdate again soon!
Thanks for the compliments on my oreos and cupcakes! I had a great time making them.
When you get that memoir back, I will give it a read!
Love you!
Your baking is always so beautiful! I love that Mordecai signed “more”. I’m impressed with how much sign language the children communicate with nowadays. Is it from Ms. Rachel? There’s this new wave of babies learning to sign “more”, “thank you”, and “all done”. Whenever I assess them, I learn new signs as well!
Thank you! It’s wild, Mordecai doesn’t connect with sign language as much as Sadie did as a baby. By this age, Sadie knew more, please, all done, play, ball, bath, blanket, water, friend, drink, mom, dad, cat, dog, please, milk, sleep, mouse, horse, frog, book, cereal, hot, diaper, and baby in ASL buuuut she had a speech articulation disorder and some hearing issues so I feel like ASL really suited her. She also LOVED (and still does haha) TV and would watch Baby Signing Time if I put it on. So she had both of those things going for her.
I think kids today learn a lot of ASL from Ms. Rachel. I haven’t seen her videos, but I hear great things. I love that you get to assess babies and little ones and learn new signs. So, so cool!! I bet you learn something new (not necessarily ASL haha) with every assessment you do. It must be neat to see such a wide variety of people all the time!
Sadie is out here with a full ASL vocabulary! I know “more”, “thank you”, and “all done” so far. Unfortunately kids on the spectrum could KNOW signs or words but not necessarily use them to communicate. So I don’t see too many signs or hear too many words most of the time. They’re all so cute, and a lot of them are really trying! I think it’s also great that Sadie got a hearing test because that’s one of the first steps with the kids we test who don’t have a good response to their name (they don’t turn around when we call them). Parents always want to rule out hearing issues and it sounds like in your case you guys caught it quickly.
I love it that Decky rides with Sadie in her car! And him fold8ng his hands and saying amen 🙏 is just precious!
Love ❤️ You!
