With the weather being so nice during these summer months, we just had to take our monthly family night outdoors! We decided to go hiking on a fossil trail near our house.
It was kind of comical to start out, though. Jimmy came home from work and we decided to go mini golfing, but the mini golf facility was closed. Then Sadie fell asleep on the couch just before dinner.
Jimmy, Mordecai, and I ate dinner and then worked on waking up Sadie. By the time we finally got out the door, it was about 30 minutes until Mordecai’s bedtime. He fell asleep on the drive to the trail, but woke up in good spirits.
Once we got on the trail everyone was happy! Sadie perked up and basically ran the whole hike. Mordecai happily slapped my back and played with my hair. Jimmy and I kept remarking at how beautiful and peaceful the trail was.
We didn’t find any fossils, but Sadie found quite a few varieties of mushrooms and Jimmy had her take pictures with his phone. She also snapped some selfies with me and Mordecai. She’s getting good at her photography skills!
After hiking, we stopped to rinse Sadie’s shoes off and play for a bit in a creek and then headed the a local country store for ice cream. It was the perfect night with our little family! Can’t wait to do it again next month 😊

Such a sweet share! I just love ❤️ the write up and all the pics!

Love 💕 You!

🙂
The hiking trail looks lovely and peaceful. I’m glad you were all able to get outside and make the most of the weather 🙂
This week I stumbled across a blog called “Rain or Shine Mamma”, written by a Swedish woman who now lives in Indiana, and she writes about the benefits of “open-air life, or friluftsliv as it’s called in Scandinavia”. Getting outside in nature always makes me feel more invigorated and any stress melts away.
What a sweet family hike!
