Pondering nursing and children

Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near. Isaiah 55:6

How sweet is my little sister?!… I found this in my backpack this morning before school.

Pretty much made my day! It is times like these, when I find sweet notes from my little sister, that I can truly appreciate living at home 🙂

Man oh man, school is BUSY.

I am actually learning some really cool things in microbiology though!! I love learning about Scrapie, Bovine Spongifrom Encephalopathy (“Mad Cow Disease”), parasites, Ring Worm, Tape Worm, etc! I find anything medical to be VERY interesting and… okay i’ll admit it.. I like to watch video’s of surgeries on You Tube. They just look so cool! Mostly all of my classmates in Microbio are nursing students and it kind of makes me want to get into nursing but I don’t know if I would be good at it or if I would enjoy it.

Other than keeping up with school work, i’ve generally had a smile on my face lately. I’m getting my lactose intolerance perscription tonight! Hopefully I can have ICE CREAM and not get ILL! That would make my life! I just want to go to a diner right now and eat a big ice cream sundae with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and bananas 🙂

Some recent eats:

Pumpkin pancakes

Cappuccino

 Luna bar while driving

Mint soy latte with extra espresso 🙂

Other ramblings: I can’t wait to have kids one day. I love playing with the toddlers/babies in the church nursery!

My mom sent me this the other day and I was cracking up….!

Okay, i’m off to study economics!

  1. You should think about being a nurse midwife. Well, the make about $90k/year and they are some pretty amazing women. Plus, you love newborns and if blood doesn’t gross you out… just sayin’.

  2. That cappuccino looks really tasty. I gotta stock up on some pumpkin stuff myself. And I love those Smores Luna bars, they are definitely the best!

I’m scared to death of being pregnant (yeah, the weight gain part) and having kids. But I do love kids. I started coaching/volunteering with the local city track club and it’s a lot of fun. I know it would be different if it was my own kid though instead of just a few hours a week.

Good luck with deciding what to do with nursing! I know a lot of people who’ve gone into it, including people who got degrees in completely different fields and THEN went back for nursing. I was going for Pre-Pharm but I got burnt out with chemistry…

  3. I bet you would love working in pediatrics! 🙂 I’m working in a peds office right now and it’s great to be able to help make kids feel better.

Also: you’ll never know what you’ll be good at til ya try it! 🙂 Maybe you could try volunteering for an hour or two a week at a hospital or nursing home? Or even get certified as a CNA and work as one for a little bit 🙂

  4. Yay for the lactose prescription!! Hope you can enjoy some ice cream girl! So glad to hear everything is going well for ya, and for the record, I think you’re gonna make a fab mom one day 🙂

  5. I like the idea of being a midwife! I think it’d be perfect for you. My mom had my youngest brother at home in the bathtub! I think it’s really a lot better for babies to be born naturally and it seems to be growing in popularity.

  6. What a couple of cutie-pies in your church nursery! I love helping out in the Sunday School too, but I really love working with the 10 to 12 year olds. They always teach me something about my faith! True!

  7. Nursing is a really rewarding (personally) and lucrative (I see people’s salarys avery year) thing to look into. They really are angels to many people.

Good luck with the ice cream!

  8. I can’t wait to have kids either! I mean, I can…I don’t want them yet, but I definitely see them in my life some day. I also love taking microbio, and I’m not a science person at all. I just found it all so interesting! All of your eats look delicious!
