Fall weekend

My weekend was very fall-ish. I loved it.

I started off the weekend by breaking into my house on Friday night. It was pretty awesome. Jimmy and I went out to dinner and my parents had left the house as well and locked the front door. When I got home, I realized that I didn’t have my house key… so I just climbed through the window and Jimmy took my picture. I typically break into my house 4-5 times a year.

On Saturday I went for an 11 mile run on some killer hills. Jimmy and I went to a pumpkin patch/farmer’s market and he carved a punpkin while I (sadly) did homework. Jimmy carved the word “Minecraft” into his pumpkin. It’s a video game. I just laugh at him sometimes. We roasted pumpkin seeds with Old Bay seasoning. I really want to roast them with cinnamon and sugar next time!

Sunday was spent at church and running a 5k. Sunday was also 47* and rainy.Hannah and I at church.

To not make this post drag on forever (and because I have to leave for school soon), I’m going to blog about the 5k in my next post :).

How was your weekend?

Bible verse of the day: Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1

Cool Olympian

I heard about this Olympian in the current 2012 games and wanted to share.

Nur Suryani Mohd Taibi is from Malaysia and is only the fourth Olympian to compete while pregnant.

She found out she was pregnant just a few days after she was told she would compete in the 2012 Games. She wasn’t worried physically about competing while pregnant, she was worried about convincing the Malaysian sporting authorities that she would be fit and safe to travel to London and to perform at her best. Nur Suryani is now 8 months pregnant. She placed 34th out of 56th in the women’s 10-meter rifle competition.

Nur Suryani took a year’s leave from her job in the Malaysian Navy. I love that she just went for it!! Here’s a quote from her: “For me nothing is impossible,” she said. “It’s one of the challenges. If I abandoned it, maybe who knows? Another four years to wait, maybe I don’t have the opportunity.

Rock on!

Bible verse of the day:

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. John 1:12-13
