Scenes From The Weekend

We had such a lovely weekend celebrating Resurrection Sunday and spending time with family! Friday night was spent baking and preparing for Saturday’s dinner. I made black bottom banana bars and Jimmy and Mavis snuggled.

On Saturday, we had my father-in-law, his fiancé, my sister, and brother-in-law over for dinner and it was wonderful hanging out with them, playing games, and enjoying good food. Sunday was spent at church, then relaxing in the afternoon before heading back to the evening service to hear more amazing preaching on the joy that is Jesus’ resurrection.

Resurrection Sunday

It’s hard to explain the importance of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It literally changed everything for Christians, and is the reason we have the hope of heaven.

Resurrection Sunday, or Easter as many call it, is all about celebrating the fact that Jesus rose from the grave. He went through horrible, gruesome suffering on the cross as an innocent man to take on mankind’s sin. He did this knowing some people would still reject Him. That is true love.

Romans 6:23

When someone becomes a Christian, and is faithful until death, they will spend eternity with Christ in heaven. I can’t think of anything more beautiful than that. That is why Christians don’t have to fear death. Jesus took away the sting of death.

I encourage everyone to take some time to read and reflect on this life changing historical event, as it is so incredibly special.
