Mavis

How I know he missed me + Mavis is getting big!

I’m not sure how, but another week has gone by since I last posted! It was quite an eventful week, as Jimmy was out of town from Tuesday through Saturday, I spent some time with my family, worked, and met my friend’s baby.

I dropped Jimmy off at the airport on Tuesday evening so he could fly to Las Vegas and meet his friends for a bachelor party. They visited Zion National Park, Sequoia National Park, and the Grand Canyon. He came home telling me I must go out west with him ASAP!

I really, really missed him while he was gone, but I’m so glad he had fun on his trip!

You know how I know he missed me? I got ready for church on Sunday while he was eating breakfast and asked his opinion on my shoes and how they went with my outfit. When he finished getting ready a little while later, he came out of the closet dressed in the same color as me, LOL.

Jimmy thought it was so cool that we matched 🙂

My mom spent the night with me on Wednesday night and I spent the night with my parents on Thursday night while Jimmy was away. It was really nice to spend a good chunk of time with my family. Mavis and Lola enjoyed spending time at my parents’ house, too!

Mother and daughter

Comparing Mavis to my parents’ cocker spaniel, Brandy, made me realize just how big Mavis is getting! I’ve always thought her paws are pretty large, and wondered if she would be big. The fact that she isn’t even five-months-old and is almost the size of Brandy (who is four-years-old) is crazy!

While at my parents’ house, I visited my friend Kim and met her son, Jackson! One thing I miss about living with my parents is how easy it was for Kim and I to hang out. She lives maybe two minutes from my parents.

We used to see each other at least a few times a week, and now that I’m on the other side of Pittsburgh, it’s a little more difficult to get together. It definitely makes it that much more special when we do see each other, though!

Life has been very busy lately, but it always feels so wonderful to take time to come to this space and document it all. I’ll be back again soon, with a post on some house projects Jimmy and I have been working on!

Tell me about your life lately!

The Lego Cake and Watercolor Art

Hi guys! It’s currently Monday afternoon and it’s raining. I have a bunch of laundry I need to fold before I take Mavis to her puppy training class in a few hours, but I feel like blogging instead 🙂

I mentioned that I was making a Lego cake in my last post and promised to share how it went, so here it is!

Lego Birthday Cake

The cake was for my cousin’s birthday party, and since there were a little more than 30 people expected to be there, I decided to make another small cake just in case the Lego one wasn’t enough.

I was putting the finishing touches on the second cake at like 5:00 pm and we were leaving for the party at 6:30, so I didn’t have a chance to do a lot with it decoration-wise, but here’s the other cake.

The party was great, and it was so sweet to see my cousin check out his cake and just enjoy his evening with family and friends. He gave every single person a hug and said thank you after opening their gift. I have never met a 12-year-old boy that considerate and thankful!

After the busyness of the week, Jimmy and I were able to sleep in until almost 8:00 am on Saturday and it was amazing. We spent the day together and it was just what we needed.

We picked out a gift for my father-in-law’s birthday, bought Lola a new bed (which she promptly peed on about two hours later, lol), used a gift card at Bahama Breeze for lunch, and had Dunkin Donuts coffee.

Afterwards, I worked on a watercoloring project and mowed our neighbors lawn. Thankfully the yellow jackets that stung me last time seemed to be dormant!

Watercoloring

I’m excited to show you guys the finished project! Basically, it’s going to be some watercolor art in 8×10 frames I picked up from Target a few weeks ago.

I went back and forth on whether or not I wanted to buy art prints off of Etsy, have pictures printed, or make my own art. I decided to make my own watercolor art because I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted and it was free 😉

I don’t have too much else to report from the weekend, aside from the fact that Mavis is becoming a daddy’s girl!
