Long Thanksgiving Weekend in Pictures

I love a good long weekend! Especially if it starts on a Thursday and includes a holiday. We had lots of time with just our family bumming around the house mixed with productivity and little outings. I tried to take a lot of pictures to remember everything, so here they are!

Our big thing for the weekend was painting Sadie and her sister’s bedroom. YAY! Well, this job was actually all Jimmy’s doing, but I was involved because I tried to keep the kids out of his hair. It took all of Friday and Saturday but it’s done! It was hard not letting the kids play with Jimmy while he was working, and it was so cold out that they got a little stir crazy, but we made it through!

The above photo is the room before we painted. We wanted to lighten things up a bit since we’re going to be adding more furniture into the room in the form of a crib and dresser. Our biggest thing was that the ceiling made the room feel dark, you know?

I don’t have an official after photo yet, but I am so happy with it! Thanks for your hard work Jimmy 🙂

Since I knew Jimmy was painting in the day, I got up early to get my Etsy orders done so I wouldn’t be distracted while the kids were up. It’s a balancing act!

Hot cocoa and cream candle

Ugh, there’s nothing better than a candle burning when it’s cold out. So cozy!

Jimmy insisted I include this picture because he thought it was funny that I closed oven cleaning spray onto my shirt and couldn’t get it opened. He literally had to help me 😂. I also did a deep clean of our bathroom this weekend and that felt great!

Lots of hot cocoa was consumed! I also pulled out the kids Christmas books and wrapped each one. They’re going to open one a day and are very excited.

The kids ate sprinkles… I mean decorated cookies! They both loved this. They were very focused and happy. I loved seeing them do this activity together. Mordecai is finally getting to the age where he can do fun things like this with Sadie and it’s the sweetest.

Sadie and I were laughing so hard when I took this picture because I said “say cheese!” to try and get Mordecai to smile when I took the photo and he said “cookie!” instead.

Sadie’s finished product! I’ll be hiring her to help me bake before I know it 😉

Love drawing with Sadie girl! We got in some school work, too. She was able to read one of her school stories for Jimmy and it was adorable.

We brought the kids to Rural King (our weekend Black Friday shopping… we got cat litter LOL) and this was Mordecai’s face when he saw the chicks!

He was also loving riding on the bottom of the cart. And the free popcorn!

Jimmy and I were in our basement (he was getting paint supplies ready and I was doing laundry) and when we came upstairs, Sadie said she had a surprise for us. She had drawn and taped snowflakes to our mantle as decor. She’s so precious!

Speaking of decor, I think we are putting up our Christmas tree today (Sunday!), so I’ll probably be back in my next post with some photos 😊

How was your weekend?

  1. Each of these pics tell a small story in itself- and I LOVE IT! ! I’m so glad you make so many fun memories with your kids – they have such amazing parents who love and cherish them, and REALLY spend quality time with them! Hopefully there are some fun times you remember with Dad and I, even though I didn’t have a blog or a cell phone to take pics. :/ They prob all would have been blurry anyway haha…

    Love you!

    Madre
